What methods are usually good for treating cataract?

The following contents were compiled and shared by Ruipu Eye Center of Henan University:

1, drug therapy. The commonly used drugs are phenytoin, catalin, Fusarium, glutathione, vitamins, etc., but so far there is no specific drug, which only plays a role in delaying the progress of early cataract. Therefore, patients and friends are advised not to believe some exaggerated false advertisements, so as not to cause undue losses.

2. Intracapsular or extracapsular cataract extraction

These two surgical methods only remove cataract, and you need to wear 1000- 1200 glasses after operation. You can't wear glasses after monocular surgery. Generally, it is best to see only the finger 1 meter after surgery. You can wear glasses after binocular cataract surgery, but it is inconvenient to wear glasses, and it will also produce circular scotoma, which will limit your vision.

3. Phacoemulsification of cataract

What methods are usually good for treating cataract? In this operation, the hard crystal nucleus is crushed by ultrasonic waves to make it chylous and sucked out through a small incision. This kind of surgery has small scleral incision (only about 1/3 of the usual incision, about 3 mm), fast wound healing, small corneal astigmatism after operation and fast vision recovery. If you get hurt in the future, you won't break the original incision. Moreover, small incision shortens the operation time and is a common operation method in developed countries. It can be done in an outpatient clinic, and patients do not need to be hospitalized, so it is very popular. The biggest advantage is that patients can receive surgical treatment without a long waiting period.

Everything has advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage of this operation is that ultrasound will cause damage to eye tissue. Generally speaking, the time to use ultrasound in surgery should be controlled at around 1 minute, which requires doctors to be very skilled. The operation time is too long, which is easy to damage tissues (such as cornea) and cause postoperative visual impairment. Therefore, the over-mature cataract is not suitable for phacoemulsification because the nucleus of the lens is hard and it is not easy to be broken by ultrasound in a short time. It is recommended that these patients accept traditional surgical methods.

4. Extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation;

The best surgical method is to remove the turbid lens and replace it with an artificial lens. Vision can be restored quickly after operation. Implanting intraocular lens can generally enjoy life. Especially suitable for patients with monocular cataract. For patients with monocular cataract, if only cataract extraction is performed, glasses with a degree above 1000 degrees should be fitted after operation, but the glasses are at a distance from the pupil, and the image seen is about 20-35% higher than that of the other normal eye. What you see with your eyes is like a big one and a small one, which can't be merged into one in your brain, and may even cause dizziness.
