No scarring of the face! Endoscopic Clever Removal of Lipoma

As long as there are fat cells in the area, lipomas may grow, which is a common skin disease. For surgeons, removing lipomas is an easy and simple operation, but the real difficulty is how to reduce the surgical wounds and marks. However, with the advancement of technology, endoscopic surgery is gradually replacing traditional surgery, dramatically reducing the number of wounds and the area, even for facial lipomas, can also skillfully hide small scars, so that people do not feel that they have been under the knife.

The China Medical University Hospital recently admitted a 35-year-old female patient with a large lipoma on her left cheek. Because the tumor was located above the maxillary bone and the chewing muscle, and the depth of the tumor was very deep, if the tumor was removed by the traditional knife method, it would have left an obvious mark that was the size of a dragon's eye. The doctor decided to use an endoscope to remove the tumor, and the incision was skillfully placed in front of the ear, and then used the long hair to cover the small wound after the surgery, so that people could hardly see the traces of the incision.

The plastic surgeon at the China Medical University Hospital, Dr. Xu Yongchang, said that the treatment of lipoma, generally with a scalpel directly in addition to the incision right above the tumor, easy to leave a huge wound, and is limited by the surgical field of vision, there may be a clean doubt.

Dr. Hsu pointed out that minimally invasive surgery using endoscopic surgery with small wounds can open wounds in other locations on the face, such as the scalp between the hair or skin wrinkles, and after the implementation of the tele-excision can also be hidden through the mask, to achieve the effect of no trace. It is worth noting that, due to the limitations of the skeletal contour of the face, although endoscopy can properly manage tumors in the forehead and cheeks, it is not suitable for tumors growing in the middle of the face.

In addition, lipomas can appear anywhere, and if a patient has multiple lipomas on the upper extremities, the traditional method of opening will result in 10 wounds for 10 tumors, which can be reduced to 1 or 2 wounds with endoscopy, reducing the number of wounds and the chance of infection.
