Chinese opera has only a hundred years of history. Introduced into China from the West, it was known as "civilized new opera" from the beginning of the 20th century until the May Fourth Movement, and this early drama still had some of the characteristics of opera. "After the May Fourth Incident, Western drama was reintroduced in the form of realistic drama, called "New Drama", and from 1928 onwards, it was called "Drama", which is still in use today. The form of performance is that all the lines are spoken in dialogues or confessions.
Chinese opera is an important part of the culture of the Chinese nation, and it has been enjoyed by the people through the ages because of its artistic charm. The form of performance is accomplished in four basic ways: singing, reciting, acting and playing. China's vast territory, a large number of ethnic groups, so our country's opera plays are as numerous as the stars, countless, almost every province and region have the local people's favorite types of theater.
