What are the examples of good family discipline in ancient history?
I. Sima Guang "family model"
1, for the mother, do not suffer from not merciful, suffering from knowing love but do not know to teach. As the old saying goes, "A loving mother loses her children. Love and do not teach, so that the fall in the unscrupulous, trapped in the great evil, into the criminal, to the chaos, not others are defeated, the mother defeated also, since ancient times and now, if it is more than can not be counted.
2, translation: when the human mother is not worried about her not kind, worried about is too spoiled and do not know to teach them. For mothers, Sima Guang believes that: the reason why loving mothers lose their children, the key is to love but not teach, just overly pampered and spoiled. Small is to make the children only know meals to mouth, clothes to hand, do not know the difficulty of harvest, do not know the difficulties of livelihood; large is to make the children arbitrary and solitary, regardless of discipline, lawlessness, so as to make the unfaithfulness and filial piety, the loss of conscience, and in the end behind bars, the head of a different place, and become the dregs of society and the sinner.
3. Sima Guang himself said that the Family Model is more important than the Ziji Tongjian. He said; if you want to rule a country, you must first align your family. As far as the study of standing in the world and dealing with the complexity of the conflicts around us is concerned, the Family Model is indeed important and practical. Modern people need to draw wisdom from the ancient teachings and become a "worldly-wise" person.
Second, the Langya Wang family training
1, the words and deeds can reply, the letter of the most; Push the United States to lead over, the moral of the most; Yang name show relatives, filial piety of the most; Brother Yiyi Yi Yi, clan Xinxin, brotherly love of the most; Pro money is not more than to let: these five, the basis of the establishment.
2. Translation: To be consistent in word and deed is the essence of faith; to give up a good name to others and bear the faults oneself is the essence of virtue; to spread a good name to make one's kinsmen prominent is the essence of filial piety; to make one's brothers happy, and one's clan glad is the essence of fraternal love; and to be in front of possessions, there is nothing better than humility and concession: these are the five essentials for the foundation of a man's life.
3, to the letter as the first, to act to reach the letter, open the door to teach, nobility in treating people. Wang's family training to deal with the relationship between people in the first place, the "letter" as the first priority in the world. This abandoned the "dead book" closed door type of education, educating the descendants out of the family, honestly interact with others.
Three, Sima talked about the "fate of Zi Qian"
1, and the filial piety, beginning with the service of relatives, in the service of the king, and finally to establish themselves.
This is the greatest form of filial piety.
2. Translation: Filial piety can be divided into three stages. In early childhood, one should be happy with one's knees and serve one's parents; in middle age, one should extend from serving one's parents to serving one's king, so as to be loyal to one's country and to serve the people. In old age, one must examine one's own body and personality and morality, with no shortcomings or regrets, and ultimately fulfill one's filial piety by establishing oneself and practicing the Way. To show off one's parents by making a name for oneself in later life is the greatest filial piety.
3. Sima Tan was a learned man, so he became Emperor Wu's chief historian, commonly known as the Duke of History, who was in charge of the celestial times and astrological calendars, and was also in charge of record-keeping, collecting and preserving canonical documents. When Sima Tan was dying, he took his son Sima Qian's hand and instructed him while crying. Sima Tan hoped that after his death, Sima Qian would succeed him, not to mention not forgetting to write history books. Sima Qian lived up to his father's instructions and eventually wrote the "Records of the Grand Historian", which is regarded as "the greatest song of the historians and the unhymed leavings of the historical period", and has become famous in history. Some people even say that there is no Sima Qian's "Historical Records" without Sima Tan's "Destiny Zi Qian".
Four, Ji Dan, "Commandment of Bird Book"
1, the old and the old without a great deal of reason will not be abandoned, without seeking to prepare for a person.
The gentleman who is strong as an ox does not compete with the ox for strength;
the gentleman who walks as a horse does not compete with the horse for walking;
the gentleman who is wise as a scholar does not compete with the scholar for wisdom.
Those whose virtues are vast, but who keep them with respect, are honored;
those who are wise and intelligent, but who keep them with foolishness, are benefited.
2. Translation: If a relative or deceased person has not committed a serious fault, do not abandon him. Don't seek to blame a particular person for everything. Even if he is as strong as an ox, he will not compete with the ox for size; even if he runs like a horse, he will not compete with the horse for speed; even if he is as wise as a scholar, he will not compete with the scholar for intellectual superiority. He who is vast in virtue and conducts himself with humility will be honored; he who is wise and conducts himself with foolishness will gain much.
3. The Book of Commandments to the Bird of Prey speaks of the virtue of modesty and prudence. Even if you are the son of heaven, the reason why you are rich in the four seas is because you have followed these virtues. Not knowing modesty and thus incurring the death of his body and the loss of his kingdom, Jie Zhou is such an example. How can you not be prudent?"
V. Ouyang Xiu's "The Collected Works of Ouyang Yongshu"
1. "If jade is not faceted, it does not become a tool; if a man does not learn, he does not know." However, the jade is a thing, there is the constant virtue of unchanging; although not cut as a tool, but not harmful to the jade. The human nature, due to things and move, do not learn, then give up the gentleman and for the villain, can not read! Pay game.
2. Translation: jade is not carved, can not be made into objects; people do not learn, will not understand the reason. However, jade is something that has its eternal and unchanging character, even if it is not ground and made into objects, it is still jade and will not be damaged. The nature of human beings changes when they are influenced by external things. Therefore, if people do not learn, they will lose the noble character of the gentleman and thus become a bad character of the villain, is not worth thinking about?
3, Ouyang Xiu's father died when he was four years old, and his mother was very strict with his education. To cut expenses, his mother used reeds and charcoal as pens and taught Ouyang Xiu to recognize characters on the land or sand. In his family motto, Ouyang Xiu hoped that his son would continue to develop the habit of reading and learn to be a man from books.
