What should be paid attention to in the feeding and management technology of newborn calves in winter

In the first few days after birth, the development of various tissues and organs is incomplete, the skin protection function and nervous system regulation are not perfect, the adaptability is weak, and the resistance to adverse external environmental conditions is poor. Therefore, newborn calves are vulnerable to germs within 10 ~ 20 days, causing diseases and even death. In order to ensure the health of newborn calves and make them grow and develop normally, calves must be given timely food, sufficient colostrum and careful nursing. Because colostrum has special chemical composition and biological characteristics, it is an indispensable food for newborn calves within 5 ~ 7 days, so calves are usually given colostrum for the first time within 1 ~ 1.5 hours after birth. If a cow dies after giving birth, it can be fed with the colostrum of other cows giving birth at the same time. If there is no colostrum, artificial colostrum can be used instead. The formula is as follows: 750ml ordinary milk, 2 ~ 3 eggs, salt 10g, fresh cod liver oil 15g, which can be heated to 38℃ after full vibration and can be used to feed newborn calves.

Calf cowshed should be kept clean and dry, and the cow bed should be padded with soft and dry thick grass every day. The temperature of cowshed should not change too much suddenly to prevent calves from catching a cold. You can brush cows 4 ~ 5 days after birth. After brushing, put it in the sports ground to move freely.
