The purpose of tolerance analysis

Tolerance analysis, also known as tolerance verification, refers to knowing the size and tolerance of each part and determining the closed-loop tolerance to be guaranteed after final assembly.

In the process of tolerance analysis, if the final calculation result can not meet the design requirements, it is necessary to adjust the tolerance of each part or optimize the size of the link. The principle of tolerance analysis is to define and distribute the tolerance of parts and products reasonably, optimize product design, and manufacture products with the lowest cost and the highest quality.

Computational model

There are two commonly used calculation models for tolerance analysis, one is extreme value method, and the other is root mean square method.

Extreme value method is to consider the most unfavorable situation of part size, and calculate the value of target size through the maximum or minimum value of the size in the dimension chain.

Root mean square method is a statistical analysis method. As the name implies, the root mean square method is to find the sum of the squares of the tolerances of all dimensions in the dimension chain and get the tolerance of the target dimension.
