What are the traditional festivals of ethnic minorities?

Traditional festivals of ethnic minorities include Nadam of Mongolian, Water-splashing Festival of Dai, Knife and Pole Festival of Lisu, Torch Festival of Yi and March Festival of Bai.

1, Nadam of Mongolians

Nadam refers to the traditional Mongolian "three men's competitions"-wrestling, horse racing and archery. With the development of the times, Nadam has gradually evolved into a grand celebration and material exchange activity that includes various cultural and entertainment contents today.

2. Dai people's Water-splashing Festival

The Dai water splashing festival, also known as the "Bathing Buddha Festival" and the Dai language called "Sambimai", is the Dai New Year, which is equivalent to the middle of April in the Gregorian calendar and generally lasts for 3 to 7 days. Specific festival activities include splashing water, swinging, dragon boat racing, bathing Buddha, chanting, singing Zhangha, peacock dance, white elephant dance and so on.

3. The Lisu people's sword and pole festival.

Lisu people hold a traditional knife and pole festival every year on the eighth day of the second lunar month. Two 20-meter-thick long poles are erected in the center of the sacrifice ground, and 36 long knives are tied into ladder-shaped rungs with their edges facing upwards, which are called knife poles. At noon, five adult men gulped down white wine and jumped on a knife pole with firecrackers and drums.

4. Yi Torch Festival

Most activities are held on June 24th of the lunar calendar, such as bullfighting, goat shooting, cockfighting, horse racing, wrestling, singing and dancing performances, etc. Torch Festival has profound folk culture connotation and is called "Oriental Carnival".

5. Bai March Festival

Because it is held every year from March 15 to 2 1 day in the lunar calendar, it is called March 3. In the morning, people will start all kinds of blessing activities, and after dinner, they will gather on the opposite platform to sing, which is very spectacular.
