Puppet name

There are four kinds of puppets: marionettes, stick puppets, bag puppets and iron puppets.

1. Muppets are an ancient traditional puppet show. During the performance, the artist performed the action with a string puppet. Rooted in the puppet show, it was called "suspension spring Puppet" in ancient times, also known as "Silk Show", which was commonly known as Kerry by local people.

2. Puppet show is a local traditional drama. In ancient times, it was called a "stick-headed puppet" and was controlled by a wooden stick. It is hollow, its eyes and mouth can move, and a wooden stick or bamboo pole is connected under its neck. The performer performs with two joysticks in one hand, so it is also called "marionette".

3. Bag puppets, also known as puppet shows in the palm of your hand. It is a local traditional drama in Fujian Province. There was a puppet show in Longxi area in Song Dynasty. After the mid-Qing Dynasty, puppet bags prevailed and became an indispensable part of people's spiritual life in southern Fujian.

4. Iron puppet, also known as iron puppet or window paper shadow play, is an ancient local traditional art, which is mainly popular in folk puppet shows in eastern Guangdong. When performing, the iron puppet is manipulated with the iron wire on its body, which is the biggest feature of the iron puppet. Because it originated in Chaozhou, some people call it Chaozhou puppet show.
