The making method of handmade goldfish is as follows:

Glue three small green leaves into a triangle to make a fish tail. Take another rhubarb leaf and cut it into an oval shape with scissors. Stick it under the tail to make a fish. Then put on two eyes, and the little goldfish is ready.

Carassiusauratus, a kind of carp, evolved from wild red crucian carp and yellow crucian carp. As early as the Jin Dynasty, there was a written record of "red scale fish"-goldfish, which is the quintessence of China. Goldfish is one of the three largest ornamental fish in the world, which originated in China and has a history of 1700 years.

Goldfish plays a very important role in the export trade of ornamental fish in China. Goldfish is graceful and changeable, and its body colors are red, yellow, blue, purple, black, white, bicolor, tricolor and pentacolor. Their bodies are lion's head, high head, blisters, dzi beads, pompoms, pearl scales, butterfly's tail and tiger's head.

The five representative goldfish varieties are Cao Jin, Red Longjing, Hedinghong, Shuipao and Heishou. From June, 5438 to February, 2022, the team of Academician Gui from Institute of Aquatic Sciences, China Academy of Sciences cultivated a new goldfish variety with 24k golden luster-"Golden Rabbit".

When male goldfish enter the breeding period, white idols will appear on the edges of gill cover and pectoral fin, which is the most accurate moment to distinguish the sex of goldfish. Another important difference between male and female goldfish is cloacal aperture. The cloacal aperture of male fish is generally small, narrow and concave. The female is larger, slightly round and protruding outward.
