What are the costumes of the Jingpo people? Overview of Jingpo Clothing

Jingpo men like to wear white or black double-breasted round-necked tops with lace patterns and colorful pom-poms on the wrap-around head cloth. They often wear waist knives and bucket handkerchiefs when they go out.

Women wear black and red double-breasted skirts with leggings. When dressed up, the female jacket is decorated with many silver froths and fragments on the shoulders, seven silver collars or a string of silver chains or bells on the neck, silver ear tubes longer than the fingers on the ears, and one or two pairs of roughly carved silver bangles on the hands. The more silver jewelry a woman wears, the more capable and wealthy she is. Some women also like to use rattan woven rattan ring, coated with red and black paint, and then wrapped around the waist. They think the more rattan rings the prettier they are.

Jingpo men, women and children like to chew tobacco, reeds, betel nut and drink alcohol. When acquaintances meet, they will take out a bamboo tube from the Tongpari and pour a glass of wine to show their respect.

Jingpo Clothing Style

The clothing style of the Jingpo people is rough and bold. Jingpo men usually wear black round-collar double-breasted jackets, short and wide black pants, and black or white cloth turbans. The sides of the turban are decorated with colorful pompoms. When you go out, you can hang a tubular handkerchief on your shoulder and a long knife on your waist. It is just a noble and brave soldier. Jingpo women usually wear black double-breasted or left-angled tops, black and red skirts, and black cloth wrapped around their legs. During festivals, the best women's jackets are covered with large silver bubbles, collars are decorated with half a dozen silver collars and strings of bell-shaped silver chains, ears are decorated with a pair of long silver earrings, and hands are adorned with silver bracelets with engraved designs. The silverware jingled as they walked and danced, giving them a unique charm.

Many Jingpo women also paint their rattan rings with red or black paint and wrap them around their waists. They believe that the more rattan they have, the prettier they are, which is a unique aesthetic.

Characteristics of Jingpo's costumes

According to the available literature, the ancient costumes of the Achang people living in Yunnan are mostly suitable for hunting and nomadic activities in mountainous areas and the natural ecology, i.e., "leather felt" and "weaving leather crown". From the hat on the head to the clothes on the body, all of them are made of the skin of hunting animals. After the Ming Dynasty, Achang costumes had new features. The fifth volume of the Ming History, "Yunnan Tujing Jingtai Shu", said: "Yunlongfu is full of mountains and rivers, that is to say, I want to pave the mountains and rivers and valleys." .

The man's hair was wrapped in a bamboo pocket and decorated with bearskin, topped with pig's tusks and feathers. His clothes are leaderless and his soldiers never leave his body. These costumes with distinct hunting features form the basic characteristics of ancient Achang costumes.

Customs of Dress of the Jingpo People

The people of Jingpo call themselves Jingpo people, Cubs, Lange, Laki and Bra. The main colors of clothing are black, white and red, with matching colors of yellow, green, blue, brown and purple, which are bright, contrasting and harmoniously matched. Traditionally, the main textile materials in Jingpo are cotton, wool and hemp, which are twisted by hand into thread and then woven into cloth. Dyes are made from leaves and other natural plant materials. Ornaments are mainly made of silver, while other accessories are rattan and straw.

The Jingpo usually wear ordinary clothes, not much different from the Han Chinese. Men usually wear black double-breasted jackets and short, wide pants. Only some old men still wear big-breasted jackets and loose pants with braids wrapped around their heads and black cloth. Most of the young people have changed into modern clothing.

Women usually wear large-breasted jackets with silver bubbles and necklaces, and long skirts made of self-woven coarse cloth, mostly dark in color. Most older women wear wide blue or black jackets with their hair tied back on their heads and wrapped in black wraps.
