The Meaning of Language

Language is the means of expression by which human beings communicate. Generally speaking, each nation has its own language, and language is one of the important characteristics of the nation.

Chinese, English, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and French are the major languages of the world and the main working languages of the United Nations. Chinese is the language with the largest number of native speakers in the world, and English is the most widely spoken language in the world. Language and writing are two concepts, and it is often the case that language comes first, and then writing arises.

The three elements of language are phonology, grammar and vocabulary, which is a system of phonological representations composed of vocabulary according to a certain grammar.
