People in Shaoguan eat bacon and Ciba on the solstice in winter.

Since the winter solstice, Shaoguan people have also started the work of curing meat and making wine. They pickled pork and steamed wine with glutinous rice to prepare for the China New Year.

Ciba is a special snack in Shaoguan. It is made of glutinous rice, sesame seeds and sugar, and it tastes sweet and delicious.

Shaoguan area starts from Jiezhi Village, Jiezhi Town, Nanxiong City in the east and ends at Ya gao ling cun, sanxi town, Lechang City in the west, with a straight-line span of about186.3km from east to west. It reaches Sanjiewai Village, Baishi Town, Lechang City in the north and Xialu Village, Matou Town, Xinfeng County in the south, with a north-south span of about 173.4 km.

The national first-class protected animals are South China tiger, clouded leopard, yellow-bellied pheasant, black deer and Yaoshan crocodile lizard, and the national second-class protected animals are pangolin and macaque. There are 36 species of wild plants listed in the national key protection, such as Pinus tabulaeformis, Taxus chinensis and Pinus kwangtungensis.

Forest by-products include wood, bamboo, rosin, turpentine, tea oil, tung oil, fungus, mushroom, tea, ginkgo, Eucommia ulmoides, bamboo shoots, chestnut and so on.
