The Freedom Square pagoda in front of the square is a magnificent glazed tile pagoda with the words "Da, Zhong, Yi" written on it.On December 7, 2007, during the visit of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to Chiang Chiang, the name was changed to Freedom Square, and the CKS Memorial Hall was renamed as the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. It was not until 2009 that the "Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall" was changed back to the original "CKS Memorial Hall", while the plaque kept the inscription of "Freedom Square".
