Compare epic poems with narrative poems?

Epic: A long narrative poem about heroic legends and major historical events.

Epic is a solemn literary genre, and its content is folklore or a long narrative poem praising heroic achievements. Its theme can include historical events, nationalities, religions or legends.

Epics are generally divided into two types, one is "traditional epic" or "primitive epic", which is mainly handed down from generation to generation in the form of oral circulation, adding plots over time, and finally finishing, processing and recording in words into a unified work.

Narrative poem: Depicting characters in the form of poems, with a relatively complete story. It expresses emotions by writing people's narratives. Compared with novels and plays, its plot is generally simple. This genre has the form and genre of poetry, stories, characters and other novels, mixed scenes, with the characteristics of lyric poetry and novels. This kind of poetry has complete and concentrated plots, prominent and typical characters, strong poetry, concise narrative and clear life scenes. To write narrative poems, we should make a high artistic summary of social life, express the essence of life with characters and show the spirit and strength of the times. It usually includes heroic songs, epics, plays and other forms.

Simply put, the two can be combined. Epic can be narrative poem, and narrative poem can also be epic.
