How do farmers dry their grain in autumn?
1. Dry in time
Rice should be dried in time after threshing. Rice that has just been threshed has a high moisture content and is prone to sprouts and mold if it is not dried in time. Bamboo mats or Sanhe soil drying fields can be used for multi-day intermittent drying or shade drying or air drying to reduce the rate of broken rice and increase the rate of polished rice.
Rice can be stored safely if its moisture content is below 13%.
2. Not suitable for exposure to the sun
Rice has poor resistance to high temperatures, so exposure to high temperatures should be avoided. If it is exposed to the sun, there will be many broken waist kernels. After being processed into rice, there will be more broken rice, low rice yield, poor color, and cannot be sold at a good price, which will affect farmers' income increase.
Rice should be mainly dried. If the rice is exposed to the sun, it should be spread slightly thicker, especially when drying on the cement floor, and it should be turned frequently to prevent local rice from being overheated and affecting the quality of the rice.
3. Keep the site clean
The drying site must be kept clean to avoid the mixing of impurities (such as weeds, mud, rocks, sand, etc.).
Do not dry rice beside the road or on other surfaces with pollutants (such as asphalt, etc.).
