Geomorphological characteristics of Danxia in Zhangye

Zhangye Danxia landform is located in Linze, 40 kilometers away from Zhangye City. Fiona Fang 100 square kilometer hilly area at the northern foot of Qilian Mountain, with Baiyin Township in Sunan Yugur Autonomous County as the center, is 2000 meters to 3800 meters above sea level, about 40 kilometers long from east to west and about 5- 10 kilometers wide from north to south. All the valleys in Qian Shan show bright colors of Dan and reddish brown, which set each other off and become interesting. Qilian Mountain, with its peculiar shape, gorgeous colors and majestic momentum, carved out extraordinary peaks and mountains, colorful. The local minorities call this peculiar mountain scenery "Alalagda" (meaning red mountain).

Danxia in the Qilian Mountains of Zhangye is mainly composed of red gravel, sandstone and mudstone, with obvious impression of arid and semi-arid climate, characterized by staggered bedding, steep walls, vertical joints and rich colors. It is a natural scenic spot that combines the wonder, danger and beauty of Danxia Cliff in Guangdong and the stone pillars in Fenglin with the colorful colors of Colorful City in Xinjiang.

This landform was selected as the sixth place in the "Seven Most Beautiful Danxia in China" by chinese national geography and China Beauty Contest. Magnificent, spectacular scenes, strange shapes, gorgeous colors, amazing. The ancient poem goes: "The old dragon stands on the peak wall, and the lotus is cut out for painting." Being in it, the beauty is dizzying, which is called "colorful Sendai". Compared with the Ya Dan landform in the "ghost town" of Dunhuang, it is the most typical Danxia landform in the arid area of China, which is rare in the world.
