What are the general development characteristics of Chinese poetry and its laws?
About two or three years ago, the first general collection of poems in Chinese history, the "Classic of Poetry", came out. The Book of Songs is the starting point of Chinese poetry in writing, and is of profound significance to the development and survival of ancient Chinese poetry. At that time, poems were mostly in the form of "songs" circulated among the general public, and they were relatively free, and the authors were mostly the people.
With the passage of time, the art of poetry developed further. Among them, Qu Yuan must be mentioned. The Chu Rhetoric, which he organized and innovated, was able to become an independent form of poetry and was widely circulated, so it can be seen that his impetus to the development of poetry was quite enormous.
But, as we all know, during the Warring States period, people's thoughts and cultural exchanges were quite active, and this activity was mostly manifested in the debate between schools of thought, such as the Hundred Schools of Thought, and the prose of the sons of God also flourished for a while. And the weight of poetry is not so heavy.
After the Qin and Han dynasties, poetry experienced a brief spring at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The famous "Seven Sons of Jian'an", like the three sons of the Cao family, were quite accomplished in poetry. In the Jin Dynasty, Tao Yuanming's idyllic poems injected new blood into poetry. Since then, poetry has become richer in content, but in terms of the structure of each style, it is still a continuation of the relatively free ancient style of poetry.
When time crossed over to the Sui and Tang dynasties, especially during the Tang dynasty, the art of poetry was greatly developed. All kinds of more standardized metrical poetry in the Tang Dynasty reached its peak, and a large number of outstanding poets and writers emerged. The Tang Dynasty saw the emergence of a large number of outstanding poets and writers, such as the Four Heroes of the Early Tang Dynasty, Li and Du, Wang Wei, Bai Juyi, Liu Yuxi, and the Thin Island of Cold Countryside. The Tang Dynasty produced a large number of extremely talented poets, which made the poetry world at that time extremely active. Poetry was greatly enriched and expanded in terms of format, subject matter and content, and the development of metrical poetry reached its peak at this time.
The Song Dynasty was the era of the word. Words, also known as long phrases, is a genre of song and song, due to the limitations of the tune, this same high requirements for the number of words, only the number of words per sentence will be different, in addition to the words of rhyme, level and oblique also have very strict requirements. This is a more obvious genre, generally speaking, there are the euphemistic type represented by Li Qingzhao and the bold type represented by Su Shi and Xin Qiji. Among them, the euphemistic style appeared earlier, and Su Shi is the founder of the bold style of words, his Red Cliff word two Fu, laid his pivotal position in the literary world.
During the Yuan Dynasty, a new genre emerged - the Yuanqu. The invasion of ethnic minorities and their integration with the Han Chinese during this period had a considerable impact on the development of Yuanqu, and great Yuanqu masters such as Ma Zhiyuan appeared.
Ming and Qing dynasties, the development of poetry entered a period of stabilization from the rapid renewal of all aspects, the content, genre, format and so on remained largely stable, and excellent poets such as Gong Zizhen appeared.
With the advent of the modern era, wars, warlords, and invasions by the great powers, the development of culture has been stagnated, and even regressed. A great deal of information about poetry has been destroyed and lost, and the art of poetry has suffered a great deal because it has been lost over the years.
Since the present and contemporary times, the traditional poetry culture has been renewed and developed. In addition to ancient and proximate poetry, there has emerged a form of poetry with a freer format and content - modern poetry. Modern poetry is more relaxed in terms of the number of words in each line, as well as rhyming and formatting, making it more acceptable to the people, and many good poets, including Guo Moruo and Wen Yiduo, have also appeared.
The art of Chinese poetry has developed over the past two to three thousand years into a vast and rich system, rich in content and a priceless treasure of Chinese culture!
