Is the wedding bride price for the daughter or the parents?

I think people have different views on whether the bride price should be given to the woman or her family. It depends on what kind of people your parents are. Generally speaking, it will be given to the woman's family, which can be regarded as a "hard work" to repay the woman's parents for their hard work in cultivating their daughters for more than 20 years. Some parents will take it for granted, and some parents will return their daughters and sons-in-law as start-up funds for small families.

Legal basis:

"the Supreme People's Court's Interpretation on the Application of Marriage and Family Compilation in China Civil Code (I)" Article 5 If a party requests to return the bride price paid according to custom, the people's court shall support it if it is found that it belongs to the following circumstances:

(1) Both parties have not gone through the marriage registration formalities;

(2) Both parties have gone through the marriage registration formalities, but they have not lived together;

(3) premarital payment, causing difficulties to the payer.

The application of items 2 and 3 of the preceding paragraph is conditional on the divorce of both parties.
