The story of Xishuangbanna

Xishuangbanna is mainly inhabited by Dai people, and there is a water-splashing festival. There is also a beautiful legend about the origin of the water-splashing festival: a long time ago, there was a magical demon king in the Dai area. He did many evils, and the people were miserable. He occupied six girls successively, and later became the most beautiful princess of South Brom in the world. Seven girls are humiliated and waiting for revenge. The clever seven girls got the devil drunk at the party and learned his achilles heel from him. One night, the demon king was drunk and fell asleep. The southern brown cloth pulled out a hair of the demon king and tied it around his neck. The demon king's head immediately fell to the ground. But the blood dropped by the devil turned into a raging fire, which quickly spread all over the world. South Brown Cloth quickly picked up the devil, and the fire on the ground went out. Hardly had it been put down when the fire started again. So seven girls took turns holding the devil's head, while others poured water on her. It took 999 days to put out the fire, and the villagers lived a happy life again. In memory of these seven girls; Therefore, on the day of putting out the evil fire every year, we splash water on each other to wash away the fatigue and filth of the year, congratulate each other and welcome the arrival of the new year, thus forming the water-splashing festival.
