Is it true that Shandong primary and secondary schools offer traditional culture courses in an all-round way?

Recently, it was learned from the Shandong Provincial Department of Education that starting from this autumn semester, primary and secondary schools in Shandong Province will fully use textbooks related to Chinese excellent traditional culture. Shandong will also become the first province in China to offer Chinese excellent traditional culture education courses in three stages: primary school, junior high school and ordinary high school.

Zhang Zhiyong, inspector of Shandong Provincial Education Department, said that the overall design of Chinese excellent traditional culture education curriculum was carried out in accordance with the idea of "systematic planning, hierarchical design, vertical and horizontal integration, organic connection and effective promotion". The content of the course comes from Confucian classics, with the "four books and five classics" as the main part, and fully explains the traditional classics. At the same time, the course development part selects materials with the same value as the main content, involving the knowledge and stories of ancient etiquette, traditional festivals, calligraphy and painting, music and drama in China, especially highlighting the regional cultural characteristics of Shandong, covering Qilu culture, Qilu geographical and human landscape, Qilu intangible cultural heritage and Qilu customs.

Shandong Provincial Department of Education has set different teaching objectives in different sections. In primary school, we should pay attention to cultivating students' intimacy with Chinese excellent traditional culture; In junior high school, it aims to enhance students' understanding of Chinese traditional virtues and form students' value recognition and moral practice ability; In senior high school, students can improve their rational analysis and systematic grasp of Chinese excellent traditional culture by learning excellent traditional cultural classics.
