First, the introduction of black pottery:
1. Black pottery was born in the Neolithic Age in China. This is an ancient pottery-making technique in China. It has the reputation of black as paint, thin as paper, bright as a mirror and hard as porcelain. It is found in the ruins of Daxi culture, Qujialing culture and Longshan culture, among which Dawenkou culture is the earliest, about 6000 years ago.
2. During the period of1928, Wu Jinding, a famous archaeologist in China, first discovered this prehistoric remains in the archaeological excavation in Longshan Town, Zhangqiu County, Shandong Province, so it was named Longshan Culture. Because it is characterized by black pottery, it is also called black pottery culture. Black pottery can be divided into three types according to texture, namely mud black pottery, sand mixed black pottery and fine mud black pottery.
Second, the process characteristics:
1. The production technology of China black pottery is more skillful, exquisite, delicate and unique than the original painted pottery. As early as about 2,000 years ago, when porcelain was produced, China black pottery had reached the technological level comparable to porcelain.
2. The soil selected for black pottery comes from the alluvial plain in the lower reaches of the Yellow River. It is the large-particle sediment carried by the Yellow River in the process of flowing through it that sinks to the bottom of the river and flows to its downstream after constant scouring. Therefore, its deep soil is particularly fine, sandy, highly viscous and rich in various mineral elements. It can produce pure black uniform texture when fired, which is suitable for making black pottery.
3. After the soil is taken out, it is dried and filtered with gauze to make a mud blank. After artificial drawing and forming, the ceramic blank is repeatedly calendered with shells until the surface density of the ceramic blank is smooth as a mirror. Then, with special carving tools and techniques such as line carving, shallow carving, deep carving and hollowing out, beautiful and mysterious patterns are carved by hand. Then install the accessories of the black pottery works.
4. The pure black on the surface of black pottery is made by the unique ancient technology of glazed colorless carbonization kiln transformation. After leaving the kiln, it is natural, without any treatment, and its appearance is black as paint and bright as a mirror.
5. In the final stage of firing, a lot of firewood was added to seal the kiln door and chimney, which produced a lot of carbon. Black pottery made by deliberately blackening smoke. It is another peak of China Neolithic pottery industry after painted pottery.
