Kissing a Baby, originally titled Mother and Daughter aka Mother and child , Marie-Therese and Maya), was painted in 1938, the mother in the painting, Marie-Therese Walter, was Picasso's lover, and the little girl is their daughter, Maya. Maya was born in 1934 and would have been about 4 years old in the painting.
