How should we inherit and carry forward the May 4th spirit?

To inherit and carry forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement, the most fundamental thing is to hold high the great banner of Socialism with Chinese characteristics under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), follow the direction and road opened by the May 4th Movement, thoroughly implement Scientific Outlook on Development under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping Theory and Theory of Three Represents, continue to emancipate the mind, persist in reform and opening up, and strive for new victories in building a well-off society in an all-round way.

Intellectuals and young people are duty-bound to inherit and carry forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement. Contemporary intellectuals and young people in China must be successors of the May 4th spirit and closely link their destiny with that of the motherland and people.

We should shoulder the lofty responsibility entrusted by the times, bravely face any difficulties and obstacles, understand the national conditions, increase our skills at the grassroots level, temper our will, draw strength, display our talents and start a business.

The best commemoration of the May 4th Movement by contemporary intellectuals and young people in China, and the best consolation to the pioneers of the May 4th Movement, is that under the leadership of the Party, they bravely shouldered historical responsibilities with persistent beliefs, excellent moral character, rich knowledge and excellent skills.

Together with the broad masses of the people, we will work hard to create a new situation in Socialism with Chinese characteristics's cause, so that the great May 4th spirit will radiate more dazzling light of the times in the new practice of rejuvenating China.
