Once upon a time, there was a beautiful little village in Okawabe. People who live here farm every day and live a happy life. There lived a dragon king in this big river. Every spring, when people start plowing, the dragon king will fly into the air and walk in the clouds. At this time, it will rain in Mao Mao in the sky, and the seedlings in the field will be full of water, flourishing and full of vitality.
However, this spring, the sky didn't rain for a long time. The rice fields dried up and the seedlings turned yellow. Anxious people don't know what to do. One day, a little girl in the village followed her mother to the river to wash clothes. They came to the river. The little girl followed her mother's example and tapped the river with a laundry stick. As she knocked, she read: "Knock, knock, knock-"The sound spread far and far, waking the Dragon King who was sleeping at the bottom of the river. That night, everyone in the village had the same dream. In the dream, the dragon king said, "Dear people, I'm sorry. I slept too long. Now I really want to rain heavily for everyone, but I need your help. Please turn me into a big tree and row on the river so that I can rain for you. "
The next morning, people woke up and went to the mountain, cut down thick and long trees, made beautiful dragon boats and rowed in the river during the Dragon Boat Festival. Sure enough, it rained heavily immediately, and the seedlings in the field drank happily and soon straightened up.
The story of Dragon Boat Festival: Hanging Gourd
A long time ago, there was a fairy who was tired of fairy life and came to the world alone to see how people on earth lived.
He disguised himself as an oil vendor, shouldered the burden and came to a remote mountain village, shouting to sell oil. The villagers heard the shouts and took bottles to buy oil. Those who sell oil on weekdays do business by the catty and collect money to pump oil. But Lv Dongbin is different, leaving the oil burden behind, sitting on one side, shouting and looking around, neither weighing nor counting money. It is entirely up to the oil buyer to weigh the oil consciously and pay at will. Some greedy people in the village were overjoyed to see this scene, and they all took the opportunity to weigh more oil and pay less. Then some villagers heard the news and followed suit.
An honest man in the village saw that everyone was pumping more oil and paying less, and left. He did the same, carrying more oil and rushing home happily. After meeting my mother, I told her as a joke about me and the people buying oil. Who knows, when the mother heard this, she looked unhappy and sternly reprimanded her son for taking improper benefits. Ordered his son to immediately return all these dozens of packages of oil and apologize to the oil seller in person. According to the instructions, the son returned dozens of oil, made up the money he owed, and apologized to the oil seller.
In fact, the immortals have long realized this. But seeing that only the young man in the village came to apologize and pay back the oil, he repeatedly praised him for his kindness, honesty, kindness and filial piety. Apart from feeling, he leaned over his ear and told him a secret: "On the first day of May, there will be a great disaster in the mountain village. Hanging a gourd in front of the door can eliminate disasters. "
The kind and simple mother heard her son's complaint and asked him to tell the villagers the news quickly. The villagers who heard the news hung gourds on the lintel of their house. A few days later, as expected, dark clouds rolled, heavy rains and flash floods broke out. The rushing flood washed away the houses, furniture and cattle of people who didn't hang gourds in the village. The person who hangs the gourd is unscathed and safe.
Since then, every year on the first day of May, the whole village will hang gourds early before this to pray for the safety and health of the family.
The news soon spread throughout the rural areas of Shan Ye, which is a commercial market town north of the Yellow River. As soon as people here arrive at the Dragon Boat Festival, they begin to prepare to hang all kinds of gourds. However, it is not common to grow gourds in northern China. Therefore, people ask painters who are good at binding paper to stick it into a gourd shape with colored paper and hang it on the door to avoid disasters and pray.
