② Greetings: such as writing "Hello", "recent health is well", etc., can be followed by the text. (But rarely.)

3 ③ body: this is the main body of the letter, can be divided into a number of paragraphs to write.

4) Greetings. The most common ones are "hereby" and "salutations", for example. "To" can have two correct position to write, one is immediately after the main body of the text, not another paragraph, without punctuation; two is in the body of another line under two spaces. The word "salute" is written in the next line under "hereby", and is written in top space. It should be followed by an exclamation point to indicate the sincerity and intensity of the salutation.

The top space in the second half of the address and salutation is a kind of respect for the recipient. It is a continuation of the ancient tradition of "lifting the head" of letters. Ancient letters were written vertically, the line involves the other recipient's name or address, in order to show respect, no matter where the writing to the other party's name or address to the next line of the top of the writing. Its basic practice, absorbed by modern correspondence.

⑤Signature and date. The name or first name of the letter writer is written on the right side of an empty line or two below the benediction. It is best to also write the relationship with the recipient before the name of the letter writer, such as son x x x x, father x x x x, your friend x x x, etc.. Write the date on the next line.

If you forget to write something, you can write "enclosed" on a blank line under the date, and then write the unfinished business on a separate line.

Correspondence has a long history, and its format has changed several times. Today, according to the prevailing custom, the letter format mainly includes five parts: address, body, ending, signature and date.

The beginning of the address

Also known as "the first word", is the recipient of the letter.

The name should be written in the first line of the letter paper, followed by ":", after the colon no longer write. The address and the signature should correspond, making clear the relationship between yourself and the addressee. (For details, please refer to Part IV, "Honorable Addresses".) Addresses can be made by name, title, or modifier, or directly by modifier. Here are a few brief rules:

(1) Letters to elders. If you are a close relative, you can write only the title, not the name, such as "dad", "mom", "brother", "sister-in-law" and so on; If you are related, you should write the title of the relationship, such as "aunt", "aunty", and so on. For elders who are not close relatives, you can add the name or surname before the title, such as "Auntie Zhao", "Uncle Huang" and so on.

(2) Letters to peers. Husband and wife or romantic relationship, you can directly use each other's name, love name with modifiers or directly with modifiers, such as "Li", "Minhua", "dear", etc.; classmates, fellow townspeople, coworkers, For letters from classmates, fellow townspeople, colleagues and friends, you can directly use their names, nicknames or add "classmates" or "comrades", such as "Ruisheng", "Lao Ji

(3) to the younger generation of the letter. Generally write directly to the name, such as "Le Yi", "Junping", "A Ming", etc.; can also be added to the name of the generation after the title, such as "niece Li Hua

(4) to the teacher's letter, usually only write their surnames or their names, and then add the word "teacher", such as "Duan teacher", "Zhou master", "Mr. Honghai" and so on. For very familiar teachers, can also be called "teacher", "master". If even the name with the surname, at the beginning of the letter directly called "Sun Songping teacher", "Wang Dafu master", it does not appear to be natural and lack of respect.

For learned expertise, highly respected teachers, often in the last name, plus a "old" word, to show respect, such as "Dai Lao", "Zhou Lao", can also be added after the name of the "Mr." two words. For the sake of solemnity, there are also referred to by their positions, such as "Professor Dong", "Chen Dafu", "Tong Engineer" and so on.

(5) to a unit or a few people's letters, and does not specify the name, you can write "comrades", "Mr.", "XX and other comrades" and so on. The letter to the organization, you can directly write the name of the organization. The first is to write the name of the organization, such as "XX Committee", "XX Company".

Letters to the leaders of organizations and groups can be directly with the name, plus "comrade", "Mr." or position as a title, can also be directly in the organizations and groups to address the name after the addition of "leading comrades ", "responsible comrade", "general manager", "factory director" and so on.

If the letter is written to two people at the same time, the two addresses should be up and down side by side together, can also be a front and a back, the elder in the front.

The above five occasions, and sometimes according to the special object, as appropriate, with "respect", "beloved", "dear" and other adjectives, to show respect or intimate feelings. Of course, this should be used appropriately, such as close friends called "respect", but appear to be out of touch, no special relationship with the young woman rashly called "dear", that would be out of order.

Body

The body usually begins with a greeting. Greeting is a civilized and polite behavior, but also to the recipient of the letter is a kind of etiquette, reflecting the letter writer to the recipient of the concern. The most common greetings are "Hello!" "Good day!" Depending on the time of year and the season, there are often changes, such as "Good New Year!" "Happy Chinese New Year!" Greetings are written on the next line of the address, in front of two empty space, often a paragraph of its own.

After the greetings, there are often a few words to start. For example, "I haven't seen you for a long time, how have you been?" "How has everything been going?" "Long time no correspondence, very miss!" And so on. Greetings should pay attention to concise, appropriate.

Next is the main part of the body - the main text, that is, the letter writer to say. It can be endowed, reply, exhortations, lyrical, thank you, congratulations, please, condolences, but also can be a narrative, reasoning, argumentation and so on.

This part, before writing, should be in the mind, understand the main purpose of writing a letter, to be organized, hierarchical. If the letter at the same time to talk about a few things, pay more attention to the main and secondary clear, have a head and tail, detailed and appropriate, the best thing is a paragraph, do not mix.

Ending

After the body is written, it is necessary to write words of respect, wish or encouragement, as the end of the letter. Customarily, it is known as the words of praise or tribute, which is a kind of courtesy to the recipient. Wishing words can be used according to the person, according to the specific circumstances of the selection of appropriate words, can not be used indiscriminately.

There are two customary ways to end a letter:

(1) After the body of the letter is written, turn a line and write "hereby", and then change the line to write "salute".

(2) do not write "hereby", just another line with two spaces to write "salute", "good health", "health", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace", "peace". "Peace" and so on.

(3) You can also write words like "peace and quiet" and "happiness every day".

Signature

In the last line of the letter, sign the name of the writer. The signature should be written half a line to the right after the end of the body.

If it is a relative or friend to whom the letter is addressed, you may add your own title, such as son, brother, elder brother, nephew, etc., followed by your first name, not your last name.

If the letter is written to the organization, be sure to write the last name and the first name in full.

After signing the name, sometimes add "respectfully", "respectfully", "respectfully", etc., to show respect. The above self-proclaimed, and the letter to the head of the title to match each other.

Date

To indicate the time of completion of the letter, written after the signature or below. Sometimes the writer adds his or her location, especially if the letter is written while traveling.
