Dawa Village, Shibi County, Handan, Hebei is a charming natural ancient village that retains a strong atmosphere of Taihang Mountain cultural elements. Everything here shows the original ecological man and nature in harmony **** with the paradigm. Here is a detailed travel guide for you.

Dawa Village is located in Shexian County, Handan City, Hebei Province. Influenced by the geographic environment, the village has scarce land, and the richest resource is the Taihang Mountain stone. So, generations of people living here in the local materials, according to the mountain and build stone walls, before building high cliffs, after extending the hillside, wooden arch, green tile roof, cover the house. What they did not expect is that this small village was included in the top ten most beautiful ancient villages and towns in Hebei Province, becoming a hot spot for photographers today.

Most of the houses in Dawa Village are built on high stone weirs. Sixty percent of the village's stone houses are intact, and a few are renovated with flip-flops. Most of them have a three-story quadrangle pattern. The stone houses are stacked on top of each other, showing the simple and rough temperament of Taihang Mountain. There is a poem praising Dawa Village: the stone castle built on the cliff is incredible. Isolated from the world, Tibetan characteristics, primitive and ancient connotations.

Dawa Village is surrounded by mountains on three sides and a river on the other. It was called "Phoenix Nest" in ancient times, and was later renamed Dawa Village. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, a family named Zhang lived here in seclusion and prospered. According to the old records (genealogy), there have been 28 generations. No one with other family names has ever settled in this village. It is a typical family village, jokingly referred to as "a puddle does not allow two birds".

It was only in 2015 that a Shib Xian photographer won the Gold Medal and the Jury's Recommendation Award at the 3rd International Photography Exhibition in Greece for his photo "Hometown Bridge" on the theme of Dawa Village, which unveiled the mystery of Dawa Village. Here, is the bridge in the picture. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we didn't get to experience the beautiful sunset in the award-winning photo while we were shooting.

It is also the first bridge in Dawa Village, connecting the houses on both sides of the mountain. It's about 500 years old, all made of stone with no adhesive. It's truly a miracle.

Farming tools such as stone mills, stone grinders and stone mortars, which have been used since the last century, together with the stone houses exude an air of antiquity and tradition, bearing witness to the long history and ancient inheritance of the ancient village.

Hemang County has preserved the former residence of Zhang Zhibin intact.

Dawa Village will collectively worship the old case (genealogy) every year, which has been passed down for 28 generations and is the villagers' "root". The old case is painted with small lifelike portraits of ancestors and labeled with names. The villagers cherish this tradition, and each family takes turns keeping it for a year.

Now Dawa Village is developed on the basis of rural tourism. It is a good choice to taste the Ming and Qing stone villages, enjoy the beauty of the Taihang Mountains, and savor the delicacies of the mountains and the sea. The key is to visit the place for free. Moreover, not many people go there now.

The village has no commercial color, and Wang Jinzhuang not far away is also good. There is a Xipo Academy by the moon lake, and the accommodation is supposed to be the best in the neighborhood.

It is a good place for leisure driving. There are no particularly nice sights to see, but it left a good impression on us. Maybe there are some famous places there are not noisy at all.
