How many styles of table tennis are there?

Table tennis has a variety of styles and tactics. No matter what style of play, no matter how changeable tactics, table tennis skills are inseparable from four basic elements, namely strength, speed, rotation and placement. There are many ways to play table tennis, all of which reflect the perfect combination of these four elements. Combining these four basic elements, table tennis can be summarized into the following five types:

1. Arc-circle play: Arc-circle play is mostly located in Zhongyuan Station, using friction hitting method, so the racket moves greatly. When hitting the ball, the racket should be as big as possible to increase the torque when hitting the ball, which can increase the rotation of the ball as much as possible. Because the ball flies in the air for a long time when pulling the loop ball, the opponent has enough time to prepare, so the player who plays the loop ball should pay attention to the choice of the pull wire.

2. Fast-break play: Fast-break play is mostly located near the table, and impact hitting is mostly used, so the racket moves less. When hitting the ball, you should enlarge your arm and use the power of waist rotation to hit the ball. This style of play mainly pursues speed, and it needs to grasp the rotation of the incoming ball at the moment of hitting the ball. If the topspin is strong, it is necessary to press the racket, and if the backspin is strong, it is necessary to stand the racket. This kind of play requires players to have faster reaction speed.

3. Combination of curveball and fast break: In modern play, few players are pure curveball or pure fast break, and most of them are the combination of the two techniques. If there are more loops and fewer fast breaks, then this style of play becomes a combination of loops and fast breaks. This style of play is mostly located in the middle platform. If the incoming ball is short, the fast break technique is used in the upper step, if the incoming ball is long, the rotating loop ball is used in the latter step, and if the incoming ball is not long or short, the forward loop ball is used in the middle stage.

4. Fast break combined with loop: Compared with loop combined with fast break, their playing style is somewhat similar. The choice of fast break combined with loop ball is closer to the table, standing near the middle table, and various technical characteristics are similar to loop ball fast play. Fast-break combined with loop ball usually has one side reversed, and the other side is raw or positive. The forehand is mainly drawn and the backhand is mainly bounced.

5. Chopping: After serving or receiving the ball, this style of play will retreat to the far platform for defensive chopping. This kind of table tennis equipment is special, with a large floor layout. The forehand is mostly elastic reverse glue, and the backhand is mostly long glue. Most of the players in this style of play are masters, forehand can pull and cut, backhand can arch and cut, and the chopping technique is the most widely used.
