What is Nanquan?
Overview: Nanquan is a general term for the martial arts spread throughout southern my country.
Southern Boxing has a long history, its origins can be traced back to more than 400 years ago; compared with the Northern Boxing School, it has a unique style.
There are many types of Nanquan, and most of them are named after their regions.
There are Guangdong Nanquan, Fujian Nanquan, Guangxi Nanquan, Zhejiang Nanquan, Sichuan Nanquan, Hunan Nanquan, Hubei Nanquan, Jiangxi Nanquan, etc.
After the founding of New China, Nanquan was listed as one of the main events in martial arts competitions in 196O.

There are many styles of Guangdong Southern Boxing, the most famous of which are Hong, Liu, Cai, Li and Mo.
Hongjia Quan: This is a larger sect of Southern Quan. It originated from the Zhangzhou area in southern Fujian and later spread to Guangdong.
It is characterized by steady steps and strong movements, using Qi to promote force, and using sound and exhalation to assist in developing force.
Liujiaquan: popular in Qinzhou, Gaozhou and other places in Guangdong.
This boxing is characterized by rapid advance and retreat, left defense and right attack, both offense and defense, and flexibility.
The movements are short bridge and short horse, and the footwork includes hanging and pulling horses, with jumping movements in between.
Walking in all directions, punching in all directions, the movement route is changeable, and the technique is similar to Hongquan.
Cai Quan: According to legend, it was introduced to Guangdong from Fujian and became popular in Nanlang, Zhongshan County, Guangdong and other places.
It is characterized by informality, secret attacks, sudden attacks, mainly short strikes, heavy elbow protection, short strength, and softness in the hardness.
Li Boxing: Popular in Heyuan, Laolong and other places in Zhongshan County, Guangdong.
It is characterized by a long bridge horse, a sideways step, fast punching and quick closing of the punch, a lot of jumping, good at legwork, a large range of shoulder joint movement, and flexible advancement and retreat of the lower limbs.
Mo Boxing: It was popular in Haifeng County earlier.
Its characteristics are sideways, sloping shoulders, hanging horses, left bridge and right horse, and sunken shoulders and lowered arms.
In addition to the above five schools of Guangdong Southern Boxing, the more influential ones include Cai Lifu Boxing, Tiger and Crane Double Shape, Wing Chun, Xia Boxing, Buddhist Boxing, etc.
Fujian Southern Boxing includes Five Elements Boxing, Crane Boxing, Fifth Ancestor Heyang Boxing, White Crane Boxing, Liancheng Boxing and Dishu Dafa; Guangxi Southern Boxing includes Zhou Family Boxing, Tulong Boxing, Xiao Ce Da, etc.; Zhejiang Southern Boxing includes Hong Family Boxing
