What does the traditional intelligence theory mean?
Traditional intelligence theory is widely used in intelligence measurement and talent selection. Usually, measuring a person's intelligence is determined by measuring their performance in various types of intelligence tests. This test can be used for personal IQ evaluation, academic examination, major selection and professional recruitment. Many schools and institutions use this test to provide an objective basis for enrollment or employment.
However, with the passage of time, people began to realize that the traditional intelligence theory may have certain limitations. It can't fully explain human knowledge and learning style, especially it can't measure the types of intelligence that are difficult to quantify, such as imagination, creativity and perceptual experience. Therefore, in recent years, more and more psychologists have put forward a new theory of multiple intelligences, trying to correct the shortcomings of traditional intelligence theory. These new theories pursue diversification, flexibility and comprehensiveness, and are applicable to a wider range of learning and professional backgrounds.
