The most important features in palm prints are the line features, and the clearest of these line features are basically unchanged throughout a person's life. They are also clearly recognizable in low-resolution and low-quality images.

The point features mainly refer to the skin surface features on the palm of the hand that are similar to fingerprints, such as the localized singularities and patterns formed by the palmar papillae. Point features need to be acquired in high-resolution and high-quality images, so the quality of the images is required to be high.

Texture features, mainly some lines that are shorter and finer than the lines, but their distribution on the palm is irregular. Palm lines are also characterized by geometric features: such as the width, length, and geometry of the palm, as well as the distribution of different areas of the palm.

The information contained in palm prints is far richer than that contained in a fingerprint, and it is possible to determine a person's identity by utilizing the line features, point features, texture features, and geometric features of palm prints.
