The Origin of Yunxi and Chinese Valentine's Day
The origin of Yunxi and Qixi is historical. In historical records, Yunxi is the place where the legendary immortals are located. There is a river called "Yinhe" on the west side of Hejia Town in Yunxi. It is said that the local cowherd was fixed at both ends of the Milky Way by the Queen Mother when chasing the Weaver Girl, and became two peaks, the Cowherd Mountain and the Weaver Girl Mountain. Since then, the couple can only face each other across the river.
The Origin of Yunxi and Chinese Valentine's Day
Yunxi Qixi culture is the foundation of the legend of Cowherd and Weaver Girl. Yunxi Qixi, based on Yunxi Yinhe, contains local traditional cultures such as stories and legends and folk customs, and is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.
In Yunxi's Qixi culture, the main celebration ceremonies are "Inviting Seven Sisters", "Filling Seven Waters", "Stargazing" and "Setting off River Lights", which can be experienced in Yunxi's Qixi Cultural Tourism Festival every year.
