Historical Development

This was originally the presidential palace in 1921 when Dr. Sun Yat-sen was the very president, and it was razed to the ground by artillery fire in 1922 when Chen Jiongming rebelled. 1928, Li Jishen organized the preparations for the construction, and the construction started in January 1929, and finally completed in October 1931 after Chen Jitang gave full support to the project financially, and the overall layout is in the style of a Chinese palace combined with modern Western graphic design techniques. The general layout is a combination of traditional Chinese palace style and modern Western graphic design techniques, designed by the famous architect Lu Yanzhi.

People who built the hall

Guangzhou Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a memorial hall built by the people of Guangzhou and overseas Chinese to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen, which was started in January 1929 and completed in November 1931, which was originally built in 1921 by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. He died prematurely at the age of 35, without being able to see the magnificent memorial hall he had designed himself, and in 1956, a recast bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, five meters high, was erected in front of the hall, which was extensively renovated in 1963, with blue glazed tiles on all roofs.

An iron fence was added around the 60,000-square-meter park, and many trees and flowers were planted in the park. The Memorial Hall has become a venue for important gatherings and cultural performances in Guangzhou. After the founding of New China, the government has allocated huge sums of money seven times to repair and maintain the surrounding environment of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, making it more quiet and comfortable, and it is a resort for Chinese and foreigners to visit.
