These reasons directly led to the backward development of container transportation in Huizhou Port. At the same time, according to the volume forecast in Guangdong Port Layout Plan, "the container throughput of Huizhou Port will reach 500,000 TEU in 2065, and 438+00 and 2 million TEU in 2020". This means that Huizhou Port must build large-scale and specialized container berths to solve the growing demand for port freight in the region and further develop the scale benefits of port enterprises. The construction of this project will completely change the current situation that Huizhou Port has no specialized modern container berth, greatly improve the container throughput of Huizhou Port, effectively enhance the competitiveness of Huizhou Port, make Huizhou Port have strong container transportation capacity while vigorously developing oil and gas cargo transportation, and further promote Huizhou Port to play its role as an important comprehensive port along the coast of Guangdong.
In recent years, Huizhou seized the historical opportunity of China's accession to the WTO and the start of construction of CNOOC Shell Nanhai Petrochemical Project, vigorously expanded domestic demand, developed external demand, and accelerated economic restructuring, so that the national economy continued to maintain rapid and healthy development. It is not difficult to see from the above data that after years of development, Huizhou's industrial development has begun to take shape, and has formed a relatively stable container production, and is developing steadily.
On February 1 1, 2007, Hutchison China Port Co., Ltd. and Huizhou Port Group Co., Ltd. held the signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement for Joint Venture Contract of Huizhou Port International Container Terminal and the opening ceremony of two special container cranes in Tsuen Wan Port Area of Huizhou Port, which was an important milestone for Huizhou Port to become an international port.
