What kind of wood is black walnut?

Black walnut has good dimensional stability and is rated as a very resistant heartwood, making it one of the most durable woods, even in corrosion-prone environments.

Black walnut is very expensive, and veneer is often used for facade furniture, rarely solid wood. The veneer is often used in the woodworking portion of construction projects and in high-level classroom furniture. Because it is a dark-colored species and has good elasticity, it is also very suitable for the surface of tables and chairs. Traditional veneers can be used for piano surfaces and the interiors of medium to high-end automobiles.
