Chinese Social Background and Historical Events from 1900 to 1945
1. 1900-1911: China was in a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. Since 1840, after the First Opium War, China had been in a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society.
On May 28, 1900, the Eight-Power Allied Forces began a war of aggression against China, which lasted for nearly a year, and ended with the signing of the Treaty of Hsin-Chou on September 7, 1901, and China was completely reduced to a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, which brought unprecedented disasters to the country and its people at that time.
2. 1911-1924: the period of capitalism In 1911, the revolutionaries led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen started the Xinhai Revolution, which put an end to more than 2,000 years of feudal imperialism and began the exploration of capitalism.
3. 1924-1927: the period of the National Revolution. 1924 to 1927 the Chinese people fought a domestic revolutionary war under the cooperative leadership of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) and the Chinese ****anese Communist Party (CCP), a war and political movement of the Chinese people against the rule of the Beiyang warlords.
In January 1924, the First National Congress of the Chinese Nationalist Party was held in Guangzhou, and the National Revolution, based on the cooperation of the C***an, emerged. With the active participation and efforts of the CPC, the storm of the Revolution quickly swept across the country. 1927, Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei successively "cleaned up the ****", and the national ****cooperation broke down.
4. 1927-1937: the period of civil war (agrarian revolution) Between 1924 and 1927, the Chinese people's revolution against imperialism and feudalism had achieved a great victory under the cooperation of the Chinese ****sangdong and the Chinese Nationalist Party.
However, in April and July 1927, Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Ching-wei within the Chinese Nationalist Party betrayed Sun Yat-sen's three major policies of alliance with Russia, alliance with the ****, and assistance to the peasants and laborers, as well as the anti-imperialist and anti-feudalist program, and collaborated with the imperialists in staging a counter-revolutionary coup, bloody massacres of ****productivists and the revolutionary people, which led to the final defeat of the Revolution.
The Chiang Kai-shek clique, with the support of imperialism, seized national power, built up a strong military force, and, on behalf of imperialism and the interests of the Chinese landlord class and the bought-and-paid-for bourgeoisie, exercised brutal rule over the Chinese people. In order to fulfill the Chinese people's revolutionary task of fighting against imperialism and feudalism, the Chinese ****production party led the people to continue the fight and began a new historical period of the Agrarian Revolutionary War.
5. 1945: War of Liberation. On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the 1st atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, and Japan's defeat was sealed. The Soviet Union declared war on August 8, and marched into northeastern China, and the Emperor of Japan announced an unconditional armistice on August 15, 1945.In August 1945, Chiang Kai-shek sent three telegrams before and after the surrender of Japan to invite Mao Zedong to Chongqing to discuss "important international and domestic issues".
In order to avoid the resumption of civil war, representatives of the two sides signed the Minutes of the Talks between the Government and Representatives of the Chinese Government (i.e., the "Double Ten Agreement" and the "Armistice Agreement"). However, after the National Government sent troops into the Northeast and other former Japanese-occupied areas, it did not recognize the legitimacy of the Chinese **** troops and the regimes they had established that had already entered the area in the earlier period, and a large-scale armed conflict ensued between the two sides.
