How did Tang poetry come down?

There are three main ways to spread Tang poetry: engraving on stone walls and roofs, repairing books and copying by hand.

1, main circulation mode

Of these three modes, handwritten copy is the most important mode of transmission. Basically, all Tang poems were handed down by hand, but the movable type printing at that time was not perfect, so many works of many poets were not handed down.

There are only more than 900 works handed down by the famous poet Li Bai, but he has created tens of thousands of poems in his life, which shows the important role of printing in the spread of Tang poetry. Until the Song Dynasty, when printing was mature, more works were circulated by poets. For example, there are more than 3,000 works left by Su Dongpo and tens of thousands of works by Lu You.
