What is Yatoga? What is it?
Yatoga, a Mongolian plucked instrument.
What instrument is it?
Zheng. Han people call it Mongolian guzheng.
1206, Genghis Khan, the national hero of Mongolia (Mongolian means powerful), unified the ministries of Mongolia and established the Mongolian khanate. Later, Western Liao was destroyed, Xixia was conquered, and the rulers were defeated by force. His grandson Kublai Khan (1215-1294) conquered Dali and Tubo, perished the Southern Song Dynasty, and established the Yuan Dynasty in 1279, which was the first regime ruled by Mongols in Chinese history. Thirteen-stringed Zheng and fourteen-stringed Zheng were widely circulated in the court, army and Mongolian folk in Yuan Dynasty. "History of the Yuan Dynasty, Rites and Music Records" contains: "The instrument of feasting and music is an ancient harp, which is shaped like a harp, with its two ends slightly drooping and thirteen strings."
