Xidi Village, an administrative village under Xidi Town, yi county, Anhui Province, is a traditional village in China. Located at the southern foot of Huangshan Mountain and the south side of Yixian Basin, the village area is 10.7 square kilometers. Xidi Village was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty, developed in the middle of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty and flourished in the early Qing Dynasty.

Xidi village is boat-shaped as a whole, surrounded by mountains, and two streams pass through the village. The village takes a vertical street and two downstream roads as the main skeleton, which constitutes a village street system extending mainly to the east and north and south. Streets and alleys are paved with bluestone in Yixian County, and ancient buildings are mostly wooden structures and surrounded by brick walls. Wood carving, stone carving and brick carving are rich in color, and the design layout of roadway and building is coordinated.

The village space is flexible and changeable, and the architectural color is simple and elegant. It is a typical representative of Huizhou architectural art in China. Xidi Village has a profound cultural heritage and has two national intangible cultural heritages: Huizhou Three Carvings and Huizhou Traditional Dwellings.

Brief introduction of Xidi village

In 2000, the ancient villages in southern Anhui, represented by Xidi Village, were listed on the World Cultural Heritage List by UNESCO. On June 25th, 20001year, Xidi village ancient buildings were announced by China people and the State Council as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In June 2003, Xidi Village was announced by the Ministry of Construction and National Cultural Heritage Administration as the first batch of famous Chinese historical and cultural villages. On May 5, 20 1 1, Xidi Village Scenic Spot was officially awarded the title of "National 5A Tourist Scenic Spot" by the National Tourism Administration.

201217, Xidi Village was jointly announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China as the first batch of national traditional villages. On August 26th, 2020, Xidi Village was selected as the second batch of national rural tourism key villages. In February, 200211,it was selected as the first batch of "best tourist villages" in the United Nations.
