Zhu Weizheng, born in 1936, a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, studied at the Department of History of Fudan University in 1955, graduated in 1960 and stayed on as a teacher, serving as assistant professor, lecturer, associate professor, professor, and is now a professor at the Department of History of Fudan University, director of the Research Office of the History of Chinese Ideology and Culture and supervisor of the doctoral program. 2006, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Hamburg in Germany. He is mainly engaged in teaching and research on Chinese cultural history, Chinese intellectual history, Chinese scripture history, Chinese historiography, etc. Since 1987, he has been invited to the University of Toronto (Canada), Indiana University (U.S.A.), the University of Munich (Germany), the University of Heidelberg (Germany), the University of G?ttingen (G?ttingen), Koryo University (South Korea), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong) as a visiting professor or a visiting scholar, as well as being a resident scholar in Taipei, and a consultant for the North American journal Asian Review. He has also served as a consultant for the North American journal Asian Review. His books include Out of the Middle Ages, A Tradition of Unsettled Tones, Seeking True Civilization: A Historical Essay on Late Qing Scholarship, Spring and Autumn in a Pot, Ten Lectures on the History of Chinese Economics, and the co-authored book, The System of Confucius' Thought, and Old Dreams and Dreams of Restoration: China's Self-Reform Movement in the Centuries Before the Hundred Years of the Hundred Years of the Eradication of the Qing Dynasty. He has also edited and edited Selected Chinese Historical Writings (revised edition), Selected Works of Zhang Taiyan (co-author), Liang Qichao on the History of Qing Learning, An Introduction to Qing Scholarship, Selected Writings on the History of Economics and Economics by Zhou Yutong and its updated edition, Compendium of Modern Chinese History of Thought Volume I, The Complete Works of Zhang Taiyan Volume III, and Modern Chinese Academic Classics - Kang Youwei Volume, etc. He is the editor of Modern Chinese Academics, and has co-edited Ten Lectures on the History of Confucius and co-author of System of Confucius Thought. He is the chief editor of ten books in the series of Modern Chinese Academic Masterpieces, twenty-one books in the category of history of economics and fifty books in the category of zhuzi in the Collection of Transmitted Books, the collection of Ma Xiangbo, the collection of Chinese translations of Matteo Ricci and the collection of essays in the series of "Re-estimation of the Traditional Culture", "Confucianism and the Future Society", and "Christianity and Modern Culture", etc. He has published various journals at home and abroad, and has also published a series of essays on the topic. He has published more than one hundred academic papers in various journals and conference proceedings at home and abroad.
