What divides China's southern and northern regions

The Qinling Mountains, a mountain range that stretches across the east and west, together with the Huai River, one of the seven major water systems, naturally form the north-south geographic demarcation line in eastern China

Some scholars have even suggested that the Qinling Mountains continue to extend westward to join the Kunlun Mountain Range (including the Animal Hing Mountains) or the Qilian Mountain Range, thus running the north-south boundary across the whole of China

However, with the vastness of the landmass, there are richer regional divisions than just south and north, so our discussion today will be limited to the traditional division of the north-south region in eastern China. However, given the vastness of China's landmass, it is reasonable to assume that there are richer regional divisions, and understanding the relationship between the different regions only in terms of south and north is a bit thin, so we will limit our discussion today to the traditional north-south divide in eastern China
