Popular folk festivals in southern China have a long history. This is a folk festival in yingtan. Around the Lantern Festival every year, there is a custom of dancing dragon lanterns in rural areas such as Yushan, Wuyuan and Shangrao County.
In other words, bamboo bone colored paper is tied into a dragon's tail, and the dragon's body is made up of dozens or hundreds of boards, which is called a light board. There are several colorful lanterns on it, or they are tied into an inverted U-shaped dragon body with two wooden handles. Each lamp board is connected with the adjacent lamp boards through wooden wedges and round holes. Light the candle in the dragon. On the night of Lantern Festival, walking on the village road, the lights reflected the sky, like a Youlong. It attracted thousands of people and the scene was spectacular.
Wuyuan Dragon Lantern, also known as Banqiao Lantern, is a large swimming ornamental lamp. Wuyuan still follows the ancient tradition. During the Spring Festival, there are customs of welcoming lanterns and dancing dragons in counties, towns and many natural mountain villages.

Dragon is a symbol of the Chinese nation, and welcoming lanterns and dancing dragons is a mass entertainment activity handed down from generation to generation, which has the inherent meaning of "prosperous people" and "peaceful country and people".
Tracing back to the source, Taoyuan Dragon Lantern first sprouted in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, flourished in Li Tang, flourished in the Song Dynasty, matured in the early Ming Dynasty, flourished in the Qing Dynasty, and perfected in the contemporary era. Banlong Lantern originated from Caolong Lantern. According to legend, in the second year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (1404), Luo Ding and his wife found a big egg on their way from Ji 'an, Jiangxi Province to Taoyuan, Hunan Province, and hatched a golden dragon. That night, Luo Ding dreamed that Jinlong was hiding in his barn, making great efforts to make food, and the barn could produce 36 tons of rice every day. I never think this dream is real. I will do it every day.
For eight years (1445), it didn't rain for a long time, and nothing was harvested. Luoding opened a warehouse to buy food on credit and people flocked to it. Gu long died at the bottom of the warehouse on June 30 in the ancient calendar because of excessive grain production. In order to feel his gratitude, Luo Ding led the generals to cut off the dragon eight sections, put them in coffins, and handed over the gifts. Buried at the entrance of Pingshan Mountain, built its grave, erected its monument, built a tomb around it, and rebuilt the Lotus View in Dragon Palace as a memorial. Because of the fusion of legend and reality, playing grass dragon lantern changed to playing board dragon lantern. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Shanping Village, Guanping Village, Jiuxi Township specially built a "nine-story hall" covering an area of more than 2,400 square meters, and invited famous teachers to carve the dragon head and sit on the lotus throne to worship the shadow of Gu Long and the statue of the leader. In the late Qing Dynasty, the dragon board of each lantern developed from eight, eighteen, eighty-eight, one hundred and eight, two hundred and eighty-eight to one thousand and eight, and gradually formed a dragon board lantern culture integrating clan sacrifice and temple fair entertainment.
Ban Long is very different from Dragon Lantern. The dragon's tail and the brand lantern are tied with paper paste, which is out of touch with the dragon body. The dragon body is made up of a number of wooden boards, each of which is six feet long, five inches wide and two inches thick, with three colored lanterns and internal combustion candles tied to it; A handle is installed in the plate, and round holes are drilled at both ends of the plate. Adjacent lamp boards are connected by inserting wooden wedges in the round holes. The short one can connect dozens of knots, and the long one can connect hundreds of knots, stringing together the charm of ancient, earth, wild, beautiful and rare to form a magnificent and changeable dragon lantern.
Dragon lanterns are played with shoulders instead of hands, that is, each long board is played with two people on their shoulders. According to legend, during the period of Yuan Shundi (1333 ~ 1368), the imperial court imposed exorbitant taxes and miscellaneous fees, which made the people miserable, and the whole country rose up in succession. In Jiuxi, Taoyuan, the Lotus Temple in Guanping Village is the gathering point. So, Luo, Sha, Huang, Peng, and various leaders discussed the fifteenth day of the first month, lighting dragon lanterns and using lamp bottles as weapons. After that, Luo Gong, Huang Gong and more than ten other heads of families died heroically.
Although the uprising was suppressed, the dragon lantern was carried forward. It absorbs the skills of folklore, art, painting, calligraphy, music and dance, inherits the relevant contents and knowledge of anthropology, ethnology and folklore, integrates sports, entertainment, communication and appreciation, and reflects the struggle spirit and lifestyle of working people with its unique artistic form. According to "Hunan Folk Dance Integration", "Ban Long lanterns spread in Qihe, Jiuxi and Shuangxikou in the north of Taoyuan. Legend has it that participants can ensure the prosperity of the population and the bumper harvest of grain. During the Anti-Japanese War, Qihe and other places hit more than 200 long boards and ran wildly on the river beach, which was unstoppable and spectacular. "
