Manchu traditional skills

China has a history of 5000 years, which lasted for a long time when the ancient emperor came to power. But because of the change of dynasties. Most of the time, it was the Han people who ruled the regime. But there are also ethnic minorities who have established the Central Plains in our Central Plains.

The first thing you can see intuitively is their clothing style. It's easy for people who like to watch Qing Dynasty dramas to find that many people wore white cloth around their necks at that time, but of course some people didn't. So what does this white strip mean? Why do some people have white stripes and some people don't? What does this white strip have to do with it?

Before Manchu entered the Central Plains to establish the Qing Dynasty, Manchu people were all nomadic people, which was also their custom. All Manchu people had the ability to ride horses. When riding a horse, white cloth will blow up with the strong wind and fly on people's faces, blocking the line of sight and affecting riding and shooting. Therefore, Manchu people did not have the habit of hanging white cloth strips before entering the Central Plains.

The social status of Manchu people improved, including the Qing Dynasty, so Manchu people basically gave up hunting life, in order to dress beautifully and appropriately, they could not show their necks. After all, it's too indecent. So at that time, people tied white strips of cloth around their necks, which on the one hand made people look more decent, on the other hand, it was also a symbol of social status.

This is also a strict system in the palace, and white cloth strips must be hung. It gradually became the custom of concubines in the Qing Dynasty, and also symbolized the status of concubines. The white cloth strip was called "Longhua".

People at different levels, Longhua looks different. It can be seen from the dramas of the Qing Dynasty that the patterns embroidered on white cloth strips are also very complicated and beautiful for people with higher status. For people with lower status, the patterns are naturally much simpler, just some simple embroidery. Therefore, the maid-in-waiting with the lowest status in the whole palace can only use pure white cloth with no pattern at all.
