Short stories are an important part of literature. Due to the limitation of its own space, in the history of contemporary literature, most short stories use cross-sections to reflect the whole picture of events, and their writing techniques highly compress time and space, telling the whole story in a mixed way, and focusing on the in-depth and detailed description of selected life fragments, which is really concise. However, just as The ruler is shorter and the inch is longer, although it is compact and concise, it weakens the readability and attractiveness of the work in content, leaving some regrets in the faltering plot, the consistency from beginning to end, the clarity of the story and the clarity of cause and effect. And if we can combine this cross-sectional writing with the vertical writing of China's traditional novels, it will certainly produce a more perfect artistic effect. This is exactly what Mr. Sun Li did in Lianhua Lake.
This short story tells the story of a rural anti-Japanese youth who grew up in the fighting in Baiyangdian area of Jizhong Plain during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. The whole article is more than 4,000 words, but it contains extremely rich content, with events beginning and ending and colorful characters. Judging from the development of the incident, seven young people signed up to join the army at the beginning, fearing that their families would drag them down, and publicly recommended the guerrilla leader Shuishui to go back and explain to his family. Among them, young women sent relatives to join the army and then went to visit relatives, but failed to do so. On the way back, they met the enemy and witnessed their relatives' fighting against the Japanese invaders. Finally, they formed their own team to cooperate with their children. In terms of figures, there are individual figures with distinctive personality characteristics such as water and water sisters-in-law, as well as the group images of a group of female soldiers and soldiers. In time, novels are written from summer to autumn, and from autumn to winter; From home to village, from village to lake. In the limited space, the work contains a broader picture of life, which constitutes a complete story with ups and downs, clear context and vivid characters, showing the author's profound skill.
In order to grasp the characteristics of short stories well and not make the works look bloated and loose in description and structure, the author adopts the style of prose, which has reached the artistic height of density.
The novel narrates events in chronological order, but it is not evenly exerted from beginning to end, which just shows that prose needs nuance and slightly rough brushwork. In particular, many details have been selected and refined to express the characters, and their words and deeds and jokes are described in detail, sometimes in detail. For example, when Shui Sheng said "I'm going to the big army tomorrow" in the passage of "Husband and Wife Parting", "that woman shook her finger and thought she had been cut by Mei Weizi". This kind of stitch describes the subtle details very intensively, describing the complex feelings, surprises, nostalgia, worries and even pride of the characters at that time. Or "Husband and wife leave" this paragraph:
Shui Sheng didn't come back until the cock crowed. The woman is still sitting in the yard waiting for him. She said:
"You have something to tell me!"
"There is nothing to say. I'm leaving. You should strive for perfection, literacy and production. "

This seemingly affectionate conversation seems to have appeared? Long-winded, actually it is extremely refined. The separation of husband and wife may be the difference between life and death. The husband is about to go to the battlefield of bullets, and his fate is uncertain. Once her husband died in the battle, as a young woman, the burden of the family fell on her weak shoulders, not only to support the elderly, but also to support the children. How to bear this burden in a war environment? Therefore, it is difficult to say what they want to say and explain in thousands of words, but the author uses extremely simple pen and ink, the most concise sentence patterns, some words, and even one word to truly and accurately reflect the passionate feelings of aquatic couples who deeply understand the righteousness and join the revolution, and tightly buckle the theme of the novel "People grow in struggle", which makes one point increase and one point decrease.
On the contrary, when writing the plot of Shuishui going to other people's homes to work and the activities of Mazhuang guerrillas two days ago, the novel did not describe it positively, but only briefly touched on it. Even women organize teams to train and fight, and only use a few words.
Prose brushwork is either open or closed, unconstrained style, but close to the center, not scattered or chaotic. "Lotus Lake" has a myriad of postures, sometimes hovering and sometimes rushing, but it is always regular in its changes, that is, it strictly follows the needs of expressing the character's character, and whatever is related to the character's development is written freely; Irrelevant parts are compressed, either brushed aside or not written at all. In this way, naturally formed a handy, vivid and rigorous organization using materials.
Conciseness is one of the remarkable features of prose language. The use of language in Lotus Lake reveals simple and rich emotional color in simplicity, and has infinite musical charm, reaching the realm of "painting in poetry and poetry in painting".
For example, the description in the first paragraph of the work:

What a beautiful picture this is! Poetic language paints a picturesque scene, which is fascinating. This is simply a prose poem with a blend of scenes, an affectionate and long pastoral symphony, and a beautiful watercolor painting!
The prose technique of Lotus Lake also highlights the strong feelings revealed in the work. However, this kind of emotion does not melt strong feelings into calm and objective descriptions like Lu Xun, nor does it express its feelings directly in his works like Yu Dafu. Subjective feelings often drown out objective descriptions, and the dialogue between descriptions and characters contains rich feelings, which combines the feelings of the author with those of the characters in the works. For example, at the beginning of the work, the description of the reed harvest season of "making a meal under the moon" and "the reed flowers fly with the yellow leaves" incorporates the author's infinite eulogy of the pure emotional beauty and spiritual beauty of the heroic people. For another example, when women came back from Mazhuang, they met the Japanese aircraft carrier on the way, showing strong revolutionary romantic feelings, which made us feel the firm and optimistic fighting spirit of the military and civilians in central Hebei and the infinite joy ushered in by hard fighting!
Just as mountains are changeable and water is changeable, the creation of literary works will not have a certain French style. But only by constantly absorbing, learning from and innovating can we create more and better outstanding works for our nation and times.
