Qatar this country in the world what place, climate, customs how, security situation is good

In the words of Milo, "Qatar miraculously won the right to host the 2022 World Cup", which indeed makes people feel a miracle, so a small desert country in the Middle East, actually got the right to host the 2022 World Cup! This makes a lot of Chinese fans feel very lost, 2022 World Cup held in Qatar, means that also as an Asian country, China, to apply for the right to host the 2026 World Cup, the hope is minimal. Some people are puzzled and ask, how could it be Qatar? Qatar in the end is what kind of country? What charm can this country rely on to conquer the judges? Today, the Golden Prickly Pear blog uploads a set of photos to give you an idea of a real Qatar.

1, Qatar is a rich country with abundant oil and natural gas resources, 97 # gasoline equivalent to RMB 1.6 yuan 1 liter

To understand Qatar, first from the capital of Qatar, Doha to say. Doha, the capital of Qatar (DOHA), many people are not unfamiliar with the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the world's attention Doha Round of trade negotiations, based in Doha, Al Jazeera ...... have made "Doha" the Persian Gulf's famous harbor city Doha is a famous seaport city on the Persian Gulf. Historically, Doha was a small, poor, backward town that focused on fishing and shrimp harvesting, with houses made of adobe, coral stone, and thatched huts covered with date palm leaves. After the Second World War, it became prosperous with the development of Qatar's oil industry. Today, Doha is the center of Qatar's politics, economy, culture and transportation, the country's largest city and the first port, and the country's most populated area, with a population of 1 million by 2008, about 50% of the country's total population.

People who have been to Qatar can feel that in this hot climate, water scarcity, desert Arab countries, seems to be quite rich, the reason is that God is particularly favored these Arabs in robes. Like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, Qatar is rich in oil and natural gas resources. According to relevant information, in 2008, Qatar's oil production was 34.85 million tons and natural gas production was 30.8 million tons. Qatar is the world's top liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer (LNG) and exporter, and in 2008, its LNG exports of 27.87 million tons ranked first in the world. Because of its energy abundance, the government has made water and electricity free for Qatari nationals. The cheap price of gasoline has also led to Qataris' preference for large, powerful, wide-bodied, large-displacement cars. Why do Qataris like those big cars with high fuel consumption? I think the fundamental reason is that Qatar's oil prices are cheap. The current retail price of refined oil in Doha is 90# gasoline 0.70 KAD per liter and 97# gasoline 0.80 KAD per liter, with 1 KAD equal to 2 RMB, so each liter of 90# gasoline and 97# gasoline is equivalent to only 1.4 RMB and 1.6 RMB respectively! With such cheap gasoline, it's no wonder that Qataris don't consider gas mileage when buying a car. Walking in the streets of Doha, you will see large-displacement crossovers, SUVs, and, of course, many practical pickup trucks and MPVs.

Qatar's 97# gasoline is equivalent to RMB 1.6 yuan per liter!

2, Qatar's fresh water resources, but the residents of water and electricity by the government to pay

We look at the following set of pictures, is the outskirts of Doha's newly built residential areas, these buildings have retained some of the Arab elements, but also focus on more beautiful and practical. We look closely at the small white towers on the roofs of the buildings, what purpose do they serve?

It turns out that Qatar is a desert country with a serious lack of fresh water resources, and almost all civil and industrial fresh water is dependent on desalination. The Qatari government provides free water and electricity to its nationals, meaning that Qatari nationals' private water and electricity use is paid for by the government! However, there are many migrant workers in Doha, and it is not known whether these "migrant workers" can enjoy such "national treatment" in terms of water and electricity. That's why it's not uncommon to see fresh water trucks delivering fresh water to Qataris in Doha for free (below), and that's why newer buildings have a white water tower on their roofs, which is used to store fresh water.

3. There are big construction sites all over Qatar, and some predict Doha will become a second Dubai.

Doha, like Dubai, is also a desert city on the Persian Gulf coast, but Doha is far less famous than Dubai. If it were not for the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the Doha Round of trade negotiations, Al Jazeera being based in Doha, and the awarding of the 2022 World Cup, Doha would hardly be known to the world. Although Doha has become famous because of this, we know much less about Doha than we do about Dubai because the number of Chinese people traveling to Doha or visiting the city is much less than the number of people visiting Dubai.

The following pictures, taken by my colleague Mr. Liu Shizhe in the Spring Festival of 2010, show us a steaming Doha, a Doha with big construction sites everywhere, and a Doha that is becoming more and more beautiful as a seaside city. This port city on the Persian Gulf is developing rapidly at an astonishing speed. Every day when we walk on the street, we can see new skyscrapers rising everywhere, we can see villas being completed everywhere, we can hear cranes roaring in the sky everywhere, and we can meet Pakistanis, Indians, and other Southeast Asians coming to work in the city everywhere. A fast-growing economy and labor shortages have brought the expatriate population of this small Middle Eastern country to 70 percent! Therefore, with Doha's openness and Doha's speed of development, the world feels that it is like a second Dubai!
