How to store cabbage in winter

Storage methods of cabbage include burial method, family storage method and cellar storage method.

Burying method: dig a water storage ditch in a flat and dry place, when the temperature is about 0℃, drain the dried Chinese cabbage into the ditch and cover it with soil, and then continue to cover it for 2-3 times with the decrease of temperature to ensure that the total thickness of the covered soil is equivalent to that of the frozen soil layer.

Household storage method: after outdoor air drying for 2-3 days, store it outdoors at about 0℃. If the temperature is below minus 5℃, cover it with cold-proof materials.

Cellar storage method: put the cabbage into the cellar, reserve a passage in the middle and code the vegetables on both sides.

First, the burial method

1. Choose an open field with flat and dry terrain, low groundwater level and good drainage conditions, and dig a water storage ditch on the ground. The width of the ditch is about 170cm (it can be slightly shallow in warm areas in winter) and the depth of the ditch is about 150-200cm. The bottom is covered with a layer of straw, and the excavated soil is made into a ridge around the storage ditch.

2. After harvesting Chinese cabbage, dry it for about 3-5 days. When the temperature drops to about 0℃, put the cabbage in the ditch while it is cold. When discharging, the vegetable trees should be arranged closely, with their roots facing down, and the heads on them should be flush.

3. After discharge, cover with a layer of grass cover or 2-3 cm soil. Subsequently, as the temperature drops, the frozen soil layer deepens and continues to cover the soil for about 2-3 times. When covering the soil for the last time, ensure that the total thickness of covering soil is equivalent to the thickness of frozen soil layer.

4, every time when covering soil, pay attention to check the temperature in the ditch. When the temperature in the ditch is too high or the leaves are rotten, the vegetables should be watered in time to remove the rotten leaves.

Second, the family storage law

1, Chinese cabbage is dried outdoors for 2-3 days, which is suitable when it wilts outdoors.

2. When the temperature drops to about 0℃, store it outdoors. When stacking, now put a layer of boards on the ground, and then pile them in the direction of leaves outward and roots inward. When the temperature drops to minus 5℃, cover it with cold-proof materials.

3. In the initial stage of stacking, it should be turned over every 7 days.

Third, the cellar method

1. After harvesting Chinese cabbage, move it to the vicinity of the vegetable cellar, pile it in the leeward and sunny place, and pre-store it for 10-20 days.

2. When the outside temperature drops to minus 3℃, transfer the Chinese cabbage to the cellar in time. Before entering the cellar, remove the root soil and rotten leaves, and lay about 6 cm of sand and a layer of straw on the bottom of the cellar.

3. When stacking in the cellar, a channel of about 50cm should be reserved in the middle, and vegetables should be stacked on both sides, with a width of about 90cm and a height of about 250cm, and a distance of about 10cm from the cellar wall.

4. In the early stage of cellar entry, pour vegetables every 3 days to avoid excessive temperature. When watering vegetables, turn them layer by layer, clean up the rotten leaves and help. Subsequently, with the decrease of external temperature, the time interval of pouring vegetables was gradually extended, and the pit mouth was sealed to keep the temperature in the pit.
