Urinary infection examination

If you need to diagnose urinary system infection, you can diagnose it by the following inspection methods:

1, urine routine examination

Do an intermediate urine test. Normal urine should be sterile. The number of normal white blood cells and red blood cells is below 5. If the number of red blood cells is greater than 5, it means that the patient has hematuria and needs further examination. If the white blood cell count is greater than 5, it indicates urinary tract inflammation. If there is a urinal, it means that the patient may have glomerulonephritis or pyelonephritis.

2. Urine bacterial culture

We can know what bacteria cause the infection and the sensitivity of bacteria to drugs, which can be used as the basis for choosing antibiotics in treatment. About 80% to 90% of urinary tract infections are caused by Escherichia coli.

3. Renal ultrasound

The structure of kidney and bladder can be distinguished to diagnose anhydrous kidney, renal pelvis malformation, ureteral edema and structural abnormality; Because it is non-invasive, it is usually a routine examination.

4. Renal nuclear scan

In acute inflammation of renal tissue, nuclear scanning can show the degree of functional defect and whether there is renal scar, which is the most sensitive method to prove local inflammation and infection of kidney at an early stage.

5. Thorough cystourethrography

It can be used to evaluate the shape of bladder and ureter reflux, determine bladder emptying and urethral and bladder obstruction, and is the best tool to check whether there is urine reflux. It can be used as a basis for further surgical treatment.
