Why do college students lack cultural identity?

(1) lacks a comprehensive understanding of China's traditional cultural knowledge. China's traditional culture includes a hundred schools of thought, traditional literature, traditional festivals, language, religious philosophy, regional culture and so on. College students are pioneers in the new era, shouldering the heavy responsibility of inheriting China's excellent traditional culture. However, at present, college students are not optimistic about China's excellent traditional culture, which leads to their low sense of identity and pride in traditional culture. Contemporary college students generally know little about China's excellent traditional culture, and few students systematically study and deeply understand China's excellent traditional culture. This shows that the current college students pay less attention to Chinese excellent traditional culture and lack sufficient attention.

(2) Ignoring the red revolutionary culture and revolutionary spirit. For a long time, the dissemination and propaganda of revolutionary culture that college students have been exposed to are mostly based on the advanced deeds and revolutionary spirit of the revolutionary period. Contemporary college students seldom really understand the connotation of revolutionary spirit, it is difficult to identify with these revolutionary spirits, and they will not inherit them. The reform and opening up has greatly promoted the economic development of China and provided a good material environment for the development of contemporary college students, so that some college students are immersed in the superior material environment, have no spiritual pursuit of their own, and are unwilling to suffer hardships at all. Because in their view, the revolutionary spirit is unique to the revolutionary era, and this era is simply not needed.

(3) blindly follow the diversity of western foreign cultures. At present, the values and judgment of contemporary college students are not yet mature, which directly affects their cultural judgment. Contemporary college students blindly follow the western language, festivals, entertainment and lifestyle. Compared with traditional festivals in China, they prefer to celebrate western festivals, such as Christmas and April Fool's Day. The concepts of Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Tomb-Sweeping Day in China are vague.
