The origin of freestyle skiing

The United States in the 1960s consisted of three independent events: aerial skills, snow skills and snow ballet. Freestyle skiing can be traced back to 1926, when Dr. Fritz Loyol of Germany published the first book about snow ballet, describing several complicated movements of snowboarding.

However, freestyle skiing really started in the United States in the 1960s. 1960, American skier Tony Hawk used the term "freestyle skiing" for the first time while performing skiing skills on vertical slopes. Subsequently, more and more skiers began to try this new skiing method, and in 1975, the first official freestyle skiing competition was held in the United States.
