What is the connection between rational diet and individual health

Topical information for dietitians

With the development of China's economy and society, people want to have a healthy body while pursuing a rich material life. As a result, the demand for a scientific and reasonable dietary structure is increasing. In Japan, there is one nutritionist for every 300 people. Japanese law stipulates that cafeterias with more than 100 people must have one nutritionist. It can be said that this initiative is one of the main reasons why Japan has the longest life expectancy per capita in the world. In recent years, China has begun to pay attention to this issue of people's health and has put nutrition legislation on the agenda. According to statistics, at present, China's existing nutrition professionals are less than 4,000 people, every 300,000 people have a dietitian, compared with the developed countries is a big gap, and China's social development and people's standard of living does not match. The authority predicted that the nutritionist profession will be one of the hottest professions in the new century in China.

1. "National Nutrition Regulations" will soon be introduced

"National Nutrition Regulations" in March to complete the drafting

High blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and other chronic diseases and "will not eat" has a close relationship, China is drafting the first dedicated to eat the regulations!

Do you eat?

Eating everyone will, but the meal to eat science, it is not necessarily everyone will. High blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, the occurrence of these chronic diseases and "will not eat" has a close relationship. Daily dietary structure is unreasonable, nutritional imbalance is the "main culprit". Experts generally feel that as soon as possible to introduce the National Nutrition Regulations appear to be very necessary and urgent.

"Regulations" so that professional dietitians into people's lives

China's first "National Nutrition Regulations" will seek to address the current dietary nutrition in China's most pressing problems involving nutritional surveys and monitoring, food standards must indicate the nutrient content, infants and young children, women, and other special populations of nutrition and other issues. A salient feature of the Regulations is to bring professional nutritionists into people's lives in order to improve the current situation of irrational dietary structure and unbalanced nutrition, cultivate a scientific and healthy lifestyle, and improve the quality of the nation. For example, the regulations will provide that all kindergartens and schools should be equipped with professional dietitians, and in the community should also be equipped with dietitians, regularly explaining nutritional knowledge to residents. Legislation to regulate the practice of "eating" is not uncommon in foreign countries. Drafted by the Chinese Nutrition Society, "Regulations" (draft) has entered the expert discussion stage, and is expected to complete the drafting work in March.

Eating randomly is inevitably nutritional deficiency or overnutrition

The main reason for nutritional deficiency is not eating enough or eating can not be fully absorbed and utilized, or because of chronic diseases consume more. Overnutrition is the energy intake exceeds the body's consumption. Nutritional deficiencies and overnutrition are both malnutrition, and both cause damage to the body.

Last year's "big head doll" is a typical malnutrition -- protein-calorie malnutrition. Diseases caused by overnutrition include obesity, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cerebral thrombosis, fatty liver, diabetes and so on.

Nutritional problems are seriously jeopardized

Currently, China's undernourished population is one of the world's largest few countries, and the annual loss thus brought about by the loss of about 300 billion to 500 billion yuan. Because of overnutrition, the country has 160 million adults with dyslipidemia, another 160 million adults suffering from hypertension, more than 20 million people with diabetes. In large cities, 30 out of every 100 adults are overweight.

What does a dietitian bring to the table?

Professional dietitians are able to tailor the nutritional intake of the human body and guide people to eat properly. Professional dietitians are based in the community, not only to provide them with out-of-home access, customized nutritional advice, but also to establish community nutritional profiles and monitor the dietary structure is very helpful.

2. The importance of proper nutrition

In order to maintain life and health, human beings must obtain the various nutrients essential to the human body from food every day. In the past, many people tended to emphasize the harm of malnutrition, thinking that insufficient nutrition can lead to weakness and illness, which will affect human health; on the contrary, the harm of over-nutrition and nutritional imbalance is not enough to understand. To give a simple example, in the past, people tend to think that obesity is a blessing, rich body type, is a symbol of good nutrition and health signs, but in fact, obesity is calories into the super nutritional imbalance caused by the results. Obesity has many hazards, so that the activity ability to weaken needless to say, but also with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases as well as the occurrence of diabetes has a close relationship. Therefore, to talk about nutrition to talk about rational nutrition, that is, the daily intake of nutrients from food to be moderate, neither lack, nor excessive. Lack of can not meet the needs of the body's physiological activities, serious cases can cause changes in the body's physiological functions and biochemical activities, and even the occurrence of abnormalities in the morphological structure of the body, affecting human health; too much will cause abnormal changes in the body, or the body to accumulate too much, or interfere with the use of other nutrients, so that the metabolism of the abnormalities, and sometimes even produce poisoning phenomenon, and this harm to the human body can never be underestimated. In recent years, people called the diseases of modern civilization, many of which, including cancer, are related to over-nutrition or nutritional imbalance. In old age, this kind of over-nutrition or nutritional imbalance is even more harmful to health. This has attracted more and more people's attention. In conclusion, reasonable nutrition can promote the normal physiological activities of the body, improve the health of the body, enhance the body's ability to fight diseases and improve immunity. Reasonable nutrition can make the elderly energetic, improve work efficiency, anti-aging, prolong life, has an extremely important role.

The so-called rational nutrition refers to dietary nutrition to meet the needs of the body can meet the requirements, that is to say, by the dietary nutrients provided to the human body, a complete variety of adequate quantity to ensure that a variety of physiological activities of the body needs.

(1) Dietary calories and various nutrients must be able to meet the needs of human physiology and labor. That is, the diet must contain proteins, fats, sugars, vitamins, inorganic salts and trace elements, water and dietary fiber and other essential nutrients, and to maintain a balance in the number of nutrients, to avoid the lack of some, some excess. Therefore, food should be diversified. Because any kind of natural food can not provide the body with all the necessary nutrients, so diversified food is to ensure that the dietary balance of the necessary conditions.

(2) Reasonable dietary system. If the meals are properly organized, the principle of eating well in the morning, eating enough at noon and eating less at night can be adopted.

(3) Appropriate cooking methods. To facilitate the digestion and absorption of food, and have good food sensory properties, can stimulate the appetite for the principle. Elderly people's meals should be tender, soft, easy to digest, and generally should limit the greasy food.

(4) Food must be hygienic and non-toxic.

Of course, due to the different living environments of people, eating habits, health conditions and so on are also very different, the nutritional requirements are also different. In practice, only according to the basic requirements of rational nutrition, according to each person's gender, age, labor conditions, health and other aspects of the comprehensive consideration, the arrangement of daily meals, in order to truly achieve the requirements of a rational diet.

3. Prospects for the nutritionist industry

The report of the 16th National Congress puts forward the comprehensive construction of a moderately prosperous society must start from the promotion of comprehensive development of the human being, and requires that the ideology and morality of the entire nation, science and culture, and the three major qualities of health improved significantly, and the formation of a relatively perfect modern national education system, science and technology, and cultural innovation system, fitness and health care for all system. To realize this grand goal, improving the physical quality of the nation is the most basic guarantee. According to the famous "Five Levels of Needs Theory" by the Western scholar Maslow, when a person's lowest needs for survival are met, he or she will move on to a higher level of needs such as security, socialization, respect, and self-fulfillment. With the continuous progress of social economy and the steady improvement of people's living standard, the concept of nutrition and lifestyle practiced by people have also begun to move to a higher level. People are eagerly looking for guidance from nutrition professionals to help solve the problems of dietary imbalance, prevention of chronic diseases, and elimination of sub-health. Whether from the state, society, or individuals, there is an urgent need for nutrition professionals to guide the public in scientific dietary consumption, improve the physical quality of the nation, and realize benign development. It is in this historical opportunity and requirements, a new qualification - nutritionist qualification - began to enter the public's field of vision.

Nutritionist - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be used Healthy and long life is the eternal dream of mankind, the mission of the nutritionist is to help people of all ages to rationalize the diet, to stay away from disease, and to slow down the aging process. Balanced nutrition helps to maintain the healthy state of the human body, helps to maintain the balance of nutritional intake of the body, and helps to prevent and assist in the treatment of various acute and chronic diseases. By studying the relationship between the nutrients in food and the functional needs of the human body, and guiding people on "what to eat, how to eat, how much to eat", dietitians help people to form a scientific way of dietary preparation and maintain the health of the body. Compared with other vocational skills certification, the nutritionist qualification has a higher level of value, it is not only the proof of personal vocational skills, but also help to improve the quality of individual life.

Nutritionist - the future of mandatory access to work With the refinement of the social division of labor, specialization, the professional requirements of the occupation is also increasing. With the nutritionist professional qualification, will become a food, health care, medicine and other sunrise industry, "knocking brick", and its related health practitioners and nutritional food personnel must be certified through the nutritionist qualification can be on the job. The upcoming "Nutrition Law" also requires the service industry, school cafeterias, cooking schools, home services and other related industries must also be equipped with certified nutritionist professionals. Once you have a nutritionist certification will greatly improve the competitiveness of individuals in the workplace.

Nutritionist -- 4 million job opportunities are waiting for Currently, China's nutrition guidance professionals as the main dietitian shortage, the country's existing dietitians less than 4,000 people. Japan is the world's longest life expectancy per capita. According to its current ratio of 1 dietitian per 300 people, China's dietitian industry has 4 million job opportunities waiting in the wings. Authoritative organizations predict that dietitians will be one of the hottest professions in China in the future, with a wide range of social demand and good employment prospects.

4. China's nutritionist career gap is huge

Related experts told reporters that although most people are concerned about nutrition, but still lack of the necessary nutritional knowledge, although eating well, but did not eat out of the health, most people are over-nourished, and related to the profession - dietitians are extremely Lack of nutritionist, the number of its ratio with the total population is seriously imbalanced. In foreign countries, it is not uncommon for dietitians to manage people's daily meals, but in China, the dietitian profession is facing a serious shortage.

Three hundred thousand people a dietitian

Health system within the dietitian is divided into public dietitian and clinical dietitian, usually referred to as the dietitian refers to the public dietitian, SARS, people began to pay real attention to the nutrition, which also puts the lack of dietitians pushed to the tip of the wind.

Mr. Wei Yue of the World Federation of Health Consultants revealed that there are now about 4,000 nutritional health professionals in China, or one dietitian for every 300,000 people. Among these limited 4,000 people, there are also a majority of halfway professionals and very few professionals. This is a far cry from developed countries such as Switzerland and Japan, where the number of dietitians is more than 400,000, with an average of three to four hundred people having a dietitian.

Not only are kindergartens and schools experiencing the embarrassment of having to find a nutritionist, hospitals and communities are also facing the same problem. A recent survey by the China Nutrition Association showed that only 47 percent of the 403 hospitals visited had nutrition departments, and more than half of the hospitals did not have nutrition departments at all, making the provision of dietitians even more difficult to talk about. Nutrition-related staff in hospitals *** 1722 people, but only 392 people really have the qualification of nutritionist, accounting for only 22%. Community work is numerous and trivial, the issue of dietitians is even less time to care.

Misunderstanding of the urgent need to break through

Many hospitals in the nutrition section is virtually non-existent, many colleges and universities, primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, health care practitioners and nutritional food staff do not really understand nutrition, in the end, what is the reason for the cause of China's nutrition did not develop?

It has been reported that China's nutrition talent education in fact, in the 1980s there was a brief boom, then engaged in nutrition professional learning, due to the subsequent grass-roots hospitals, communities, schools, kindergartens have been no nutritionist positions in the statutory setup, the people of China's nutritional knowledge is still little understanding of the nutritional profession of dietitians for a long time do not get the attention it deserves, resulting in the graduation of the student Employment difficulties, and ultimately led to the cold shoulder of nutrition education. Nutrition students encountered embarrassment in their job search, and finally had to change careers to do other work.

Beijing, a health consulting center manager Liu said, at present, there are still many people in the nutritional diet there are great misunderstandings, the people's traditional eating habits and scientific dietary concepts have no small conflict between the dietitian through the dietitian to further strengthen the scientific guidance is necessary. Some experts believe that the per capita gdp indicator from 1000 dollars to 3000 dollars period, is the residents of the nutritional structure of the diet of the rapid changes in the critical period, if at this time to the correct nutritional guidance, will significantly enhance the physical and intellectual level of our residents.

Hospitals, schools, kindergartens, hotels, restaurants, sports teams, food companies, fitness clubs, beauty salons, communities, nursing homes and so on have a strong demand for dietitians, and this demand should be at least 4 million people. The relevant departments have begun to realize this problem, according to the relevant sources, China is now stepping up the development of relevant laws to improve the social status of dietitians, and will gradually in hospitals, kindergartens, schools, enterprises and institutions of public **** canteens and catering services to implement the dietitian system.

5. China lacks 4 million nutritionists

China has thousands of years of dietary culture, "medicine is better than food" concept is y rooted in people's hearts. However, "food" should be how to make up, but few people say clear, which requires the professional guidance of the nutritionist.

Nutritionist is not just "porridge"

October 30, reporters in Chaoyang District, Beijing, randomly interviewed some pedestrians, found that the concept of "dietitian" are not clear. "Nutritionists are the ones who cook for patients in hospitals, right?" "Nutritionists teach us how to make nutritious meals, unlike ordinary chefs." Chinese Medical Association, Beijing Branch of the Nutrition Society, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, director of the Nutrition Department, Yu Guixiang told reporters that due to the late start of the study of nutrition in China, many people know very little about it, and sometimes even the dietitian themselves are self-deprecating, said: "We are so-and-so hospitals in the porridge."

In fact, nutrition is a study, specializing in nutrition, nutrition and nutritional balance. Nutritionist's main job is to study the relationship between the nutrients in food and the body's functional needs, that is, to guide people "what to eat, how to eat, eat how much". If divided according to the different research areas and contents, dietitians can be subdivided into the study of children's nutrition, adolescent nutrition, geriatric nutrition nutrition dietitians, clinical dietitians for the study of therapeutic diets, and for a wider range of people in the study of general diets, dietitians and so on. In short, a qualified nutritionist should be a physician, nutritionist, chef of the "trinity", not just "porridge".

Japan's 100-person cafeteria must be equipped with a nutritionist

Europe and the United States, Japan and other developed countries in more than half a century ago realized that "scientific nutrition, balanced diet can change a person, a family and even a nation's future. After World War II, Japan in the formulation of economic development strategy at the same time, focus on two aspects of work, that is, to grasp the education and the quality of the nation. 1947, Japan enacted the Nutritionist Law, and in 1952, the formulation and implementation of the Nutrition Improvement Law. The law stipulates that any cafeteria that can accommodate 100 people must be equipped with at least one nutritionist. Currently, there are 400,000 professional nutritionists in Japan, a ratio of 1:300 to the national population, and nutritionists are widely distributed in hospitals, schools, cafeterias, hotels, food processing companies and government departments to provide timely nutritional guidance to the nation's population.

It is reported that in the United States, dietitians are very "popular", want to obtain the qualification of nutritionist is not easy. Only medical graduates, at least two years of apprenticeship in related areas of work before they are eligible to participate in the registered dietitian examination, through the unified examination to engage in related work. In addition, they have to receive 75 hours of re-education every five years thereafter in order to update their knowledge in time to better guide the public. However, once qualified to practice, dietitians can have the same enviable high income and social status as doctors. In the eyes of Americans, private clinics are equipped with dietitians or not is an important indicator of whether this clinic is perfect and professional, people care a lot about the dietitian's opinion, and has formed the habit of consulting with dietitians at any time.

Currently, there are less than 4,000 dietitians in China

Compared with Japan and the United States, the current situation of dietitians in China is not optimistic. Yu Guixiang, director of the introduction, said that at present China's nutritionist less than 4000 people, if the proportion of Japan's nutritionist accounted for the national population, that is, every 300 people with a nutritionist to project, China lacks nearly 4 million nutritionists. Moreover, in this limited 4,000 people, but also halfway out of the majority, fewer professionals. China Nutrition Society in 2002, a survey showed that: in the 403 hospitals surveyed, only 47% of the nutrition section, more than half of the hospitals do not have a nutrition section set up, nutritionists are equipped with more to talk about. Nutrition staff in the hospital **** 1722 people, and only 392 people really have the qualification of nutritionist, accounting for only 22%. The hospitals most in need of dietitians are still so, cafeterias, hotels, schools can be imagined. The reporter visited a number of restaurants on Chang'an Street in Beijing, and found that there is no lack of special and first-class chefs in these restaurants, but none of them are equipped with dietitians. The reason is very simple - there is no nutritionist on the restaurant's profits have no impact. The reason behind this phenomenon is worth thinking about: why dietitians have been left out in the cold?

Nutritionist can help people prevent "rich people's disease"

Yu Guixiang, director of the reporter, told reporters that with the general improvement in the standard of living of the people of China, people's dietary structure is also undergoing great changes, from the traditional dietary structure based on plant foods to meat-based dietary structure. However, this rapid change is the human body function is difficult to accept for a while, followed by a series of diseases. One-sided emphasis on "good taste" and poor dietary habits, so that our residents have individual nutrient deficiencies and overall nutritional excess co-exist strange phenomenon. According to the national physical quality survey in 2002, China's children under the age of 5 years of height does not meet the standard accounted for 35% of the total number of children with rickets accounted for 30% of the iodine-deficient people accounted for 33% of the iron-deficiency anemia accounted for 20%. National obesity more than 30 million people, overweight people amounted to 240 million. The number of people suffering from "rich people's disease" is also rising sharply, to diabetes, for example, in 1979, China's diabetic patients accounted for 0.67% of the total number of people in 1998, the proportion rose to 3.21%, and Beijing diabetic patients have accounted for 6%.

This series of alarming figures in reminding people: reasonable diet, balanced nutrition is part of the prevention and treatment of disease, can not wait until the diabetes, coronary heart disease or tumor, must receive dietary treatment only when "temporary", think of the dietitian.

Yu Guixiang, director also believes that the professional level of China's dietitians need to be further improved, the construction of a backup team of dietitians must be put on the agenda. Only when professional dietitians are popularized in China will people be able to get proper guidance in purchasing food, cooking, dining and buying health products.

6. Catering industry calling for nutritionists

Currently, Japan has 400,000 nutritionists, every 330 people have a nutritionist, while China's nutritionists less than 4,000 people, every 300,000 people have a nutritionist. The vast majority of them are distributed in hospitals and other institutions for special populations, few for the general public. Foreign dietitians focus on the field of public **** nutrition, medical nutrition is only one of the components. Not long ago, the Ministry of Health revealed that in the future, collective feeding units should be equipped with dietitians, and the management system and requirements for dietitians are being drafted. Fudan University School of Public **** Health Nutrition and Food Hygiene Teaching and Research Office Professor Liu Qipei therefore suggested: the hotel is also best equipped with a full-time dietitian.

Nutritionist talent shortage, with the cancellation of the medical nutrition professional colleges and universities, the eye of the medical nutritionist class is less and less, not to mention the public **** nutritionist. Currently in China's institutions of higher learning, only Sun Yat-sen University and Sichuan University with a nutrition program. Because of the high demand, the employment prospects of graduates are quite good. Experts suggest that dietitians do not have to stick to the medical background, many public-oriented dietitians abroad are trained by the College of Agriculture, food processing.

7. U.S. dietitians good money

The U.S. food supermarket shelves are often magazines for sale, a large part of them and nutrition, weight loss related.

Recently, the reporter saw a domestic media article on the Internet, said the United States is popular with dietitians, nutrition classes, almost everyone has a private dietitian, dietitian status is respected and so on.

While there is a component of borrowing from the Americans to create momentum, things are far from so "hot and heavy", but according to the reporter in the United States a few years of experience, Americans do attach great importance to nutritional intake, and attaches great importance to the nutritionist's opinion, the United States dietitians do not have a low status, it is not difficult to make money.

The United States nutritionist is a kind of doctor, license is difficult to get

Nutrition can be divided into clinical nutrition and general nutrition and so on. In the United States, dietitians are a kind of doctors, and never a signboard to promote nutritional products. Dare to hang up a sign to do clinical nutrition consulting, are after rigorous examination, get a special license. The U.S. physician's license is notoriously difficult to get, to get a dietitian's license to practice, the same is never easy.

The status of dietitians in the United States is the same as that of other physicians, neither high nor low, and there is nothing special about them. Large general hospitals in the United States usually have specialized nutrition clinics, there are also a small number of independently operating nutritional counseling clinics.

Not long ago, a reporter ran to the hospital to see a doctor because of massive hair loss. After a long checkup in the surgery and dermatology department, the doctor suggested: go see a nutritionist. To the nutritionist, and a large number of checks, laboratory tests, and finally issued a long list of drugs, food list. Nutritionist explained: you currently lack several vitamins, lack of several minerals, supplementation ratio should be how much and so on. Listen to the reporter dizzy, but still admire the nutritionist's professional level.

Nutritionist fees are also very expensive, the reporter went to a relatively cheap public hospital, most of the day tossed down, spent more than 200 U.S. dollars. A private nutritionist's office usually costs about $120-$150 an hour, which the vast majority of Americans can't afford unless they have good health insurance, and it's even more unaffordable for everyone to hire a private dietitian.

Nutritionist licenses are hard to get, but the days are better when you do. In addition to opening a nutrition clinic, the U.S. sports teams of all sizes have hired nutritionists, and the streets are full of fitness clubs that also hire nutritionists to guide them, and so on, and they make a lot of money.

Nutritionist to help you find the most suitable diet to maintain health, exercise

Good nutritionist can not only guide your daily nutritional ration, but also help you find the most suitable diet to maintain health, exercise methods.

When you go to a clinical dietitian, he will first assess all aspects of your nutritional status and eating and living habits. First, he will determine your nutritional standards and determine the amount of activity that is appropriate for you, taking into account your age and physical health. In terms of diet, he can tell you what and how you should eat according to your condition. For example, a pregnant woman needs more zinc than an older person for fetal brain development, while an older person needs more selenium than a teenager for prostate protection, and a teenager needs more calcium and vitamin D for bone growth, among other things.

What sets it apart from the prescribing model of other doctors' visits is that dietitians usually have to design a long-term treatment plan for their clients, especially in cases of serious health problems brought on by nutritional imbalances or malnutrition. Prescriptions from dietitians are essentially based on dietary supplements, supplemented by medicinal supplements, so they are generally longer term, ranging from a few weeks to a few years.

Both Chinese and Western medicine recognize that balanced nutritional intake is the key to good health, and good health is a prerequisite for quality of life. As Americans become more and more focused on quality of life, dietitians are becoming more and more popular.

In the United States in many parts of daily life can see the shadow of the dietitian

In addition to people like this reporter feel that the body has a small problem, often patronize the dietitian there are also the following kinds of people: the diet of special requirements of real patients, such as suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and other diseases of the patient; a number of professionals, such as athletes have a very high demand for physical fitness, the appearance has a strict self requirements of actors and actresses, and so on. Appearance has strict self requirements of the show business people; on the high health requirements, want to pursue longevity of the rich and countless in order to lose weight and go through great pains to lose weight in the United States big fat and so on.

Dietitians can be found in many parts of daily life in the United States. For example, the media, in the U.S. food supermarkets usually have a row of shelves dedicated to selling books, which is about 1 / 3 of the magazine is about diet and weight loss, buy food, daily groceries, many people habitually flip or buy a magazine, which is naturally a large number of food ads, interspersed with the middle of the article is mostly written by those dietitians, and repeatedly teach you the nutritional collocation of food, how to eat while The articles are mostly written by nutritionists, who repeatedly teach you the nutritional combination of food, how to lose weight while eating, etc. On television, there is simply a national cable channel "food", in addition to teaching you the art of cooking, it is the nutritionists to take turns to talk about nutrition.

All food and nutritional products in the United States contain very detailed descriptions of the nutritional content of the food. For example, how many calories, how much protein, how many minerals. This is a hard and fast legal requirement from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), but it also goes along with what dietitians do. A dietitian can scale your diet to more than two decimal places if you want.

However, very few people go to dietitians on a regular basis, let alone popularize nutrition classes. There are several reasons for this: first of all, dietitians are very expensive, and secondly, most Americans are very busy, do not have time to listen to the class, and special interest, there is a need for people to simply go to the dietitian to see the clinic, do not have to listen to the nutrition class, no interest, no need for people naturally will not go to listen to the class.

American students' meals to be uncompromising implementation of the dietitian's requirements

American students' meals nutrition requirements are very strict, to be uncompromising implementation of the dietitian's requirements. Anyone who has examined the U.S. primary and secondary school student meals are very impressed with this, student meals do not necessarily very tasty, but it ensures the balance of nutrition.

In public schools, some states require schools to serve breakfast and lunch, while others require that only lunch be served. There is usually a $3-$5 fee for student meals, and if a family's income is below a certain threshold, they can apply for free meals. Free and paid student meals are exactly the same.

Student meals serve different varieties and quantities of food, depending on the grade level. A lunch for middle school students usually consists of two slices of bread, a slice of beef, with a vegetable salad, jam, plus milk, butter, and juice. Elementary school students will also have an extra meal of milk.

Private schools that do serve meals also have to follow the dietitian's instructions, but basically nothing is free. There are also some private schools that don't want to take on the costs and responsibilities involved, so they require students to bring their own meals, and that's in the hands of the parents.

Local school districts and schools in the United States regularly ask dietitians to assess students' food structure and nutritional intake and make adjustments on a regular basis. In recent years, many Chinese children who attend U.S. elementary and secondary schools often find the U.S. school food difficult to adapt to, in large part because U.S. school lunches pay attention to nutrition at the expense of taste.

American adults and Chinese children have similar dietary preferences

While Americans value seeing a dietitian, there's no guarantee that they'll actually change their diets to meet the dietitian's requirements, and no guarantee that they'll maintain a balanced diet.

An American dietitian commented on the nutritional and dietary structure of Americans and Chinese that while American children have a much better nutritional structure than Chinese children, Chinese adults have a nutritional structure not much worse than American adults. The most obvious example is that there are more and more little fat people on Chinese campuses, while super fat people can be found everywhere on American streets. This has something to do with different ethnic genetics, but most of all it's because American adults and Chinese children have similar dietary preferences.

American elementary and middle school students are given balanced meals at school by dietitians. However, Chinese children's food is overly filled with sweets such as ice cream, a wide variety of snacks, meat without vegetables to go with it, and a lack of exercise, which has resulted in countless overweight chubby kids. Similarly, most of the dietary structure of American adults is not scientific, for example, the main meal into a large amount of butter, beef, after the meal more than 80% of the Americans must eat a portion of ice cream, and then the man sits on the couch drinking beer and watching TV, the woman leaned back on the couch eating potato chips or cornflakes to watch TV. The result is a big fat often stunned Chinese guests who come to visit.
