Tomato varieties

Tomatoes are far more important in western food than Chinese food. After all, the use of tomatoes in Chinese food is relatively limited. I happened to be reading Larousse Encyclopedia of Food recently. The tomato varieties that Europeans often eat are roughly shown in the following figure. I'm not an agronomy major, so I'll give you a brief introduction.

1. Tomatoes and grapes, which means bunches of tomatoes. This kind of tomato is sold more in France, usually small and medium-sized, and its color is red. In French, this is a country flavor.

2.allongé type. Long tomatoes. The shape is oval. There are several varieties of this tomato, which are specially cultivated for the food industry. They can be harvested mechanically and meet some standards of food processing.

3.Charnu type, succulent tomato. The fruit is juicy. I feel that this kind of tomato is similar to the tomatoes that are often eaten in China. While tomatoes in Europe are generally red in color, tomatoes in Beijing market are generally fluffy.

4. Round tomatoes. This kind of tomato is quite common from southern Europe to western Europe, with strong aroma and easy preservation.

5. Cherry tomato is usually called cherry tomato in China. This kind of tomato is small. In China, we usually eat it as fruit, while Europeans and Americans like to cut it in half and mix it with salad. There is also a yellow cherry tomato that I have only seen and never eaten.
